They had good lawyers from the community who got them out of the worst of the trouble though. The optics from arresting them were too bad to push the issue as hard as they probably wanted.

It was worse than that. Various representatives had said some pretty incendiary stuff about the Koreans during the Latasha Harlins trial. The politicians were on the side of the nativist rioters.
