I haven't actually seen the whole series, but from the couple of episodes I have seen, and knowing what google is: aside from the magic notebook, Death Note is about high-stakes gay ops and Near is a character in it.

Near fka Byuu not only took his new Internet Name from the cartoon Near, but also used uses pictures of the anime character as his twitter profile picture and on his website, and the same font as the anime character's equivalent of a profile pic as the header on his site:

knowing that weebs can be a bit touched in the head, over-identifying with anime/manga/vidya characters (for an extreme example, see the Final Fantasy 7 House), especially when you've got a self-described obsessive like Near/Byuu, I think you can see where I'm going with this.
it would probably require an actual weeaboo (or at least someone who's seen the whole show) to get there. and like any other hoax-theorizing, proof of death would be enough for a "disregard that, I'm retarded".

Check the timeline, @MoeChotto laid out the timezone for everyone involved for the events a couple hundred pages back:

Looking at the timeline it seems that the time window for the alleged suicide is still on the 27th JST, so this is not necessarily out of line with the date on the urn.

Where you're right is that IF things went exactly as the timeline of statements and messages implies, there's a sizeable chance that his body would not be discovered until the 28th JST, and that could impact official reporting.

That said, an urn doesn't need to go by official records. By that same token, it's proof of exactly jack shit as it wouldn't be hard to order a "sample" and take a picture of it in a nice looking office.

That's a good idea. Although it would take earthshattering levels of autism to actually shift through hours and days, maybe even weeks of footage. If someone here does manage to do this successfully that would be amazing and possibly game-changing. But I wouldnt get my hopes up :optimistic:

edit: forgot to add, it's also tedious because we dont know his exact location in japan, and would have to do multiple areas. That's assuming he even is/was in japan at that time. And also on top of all that, assuming he went outside and walked around in public, which is unlikely.
