He absolutely hasn't played them, especially since he failed to see the obvious connections to BTAS beyond the voice cast. The man likes his video games to be bright, goofy, borderline nonsensical, and made in Japan. The Arkham series is none of those things. It doesn't matter that the first two are near universally beloved and even innovative games, if they're not even the slightest bit cheesy, he won't like them.
It wasn't so much the success of his Pixels vid as much as it that he somehow failed to use that as a stepping stone to bigger success.
They'll never plant their feet firmly around anything societally controversial. If you told them about nonbinarys or the assorted fake Tumblr shit 12 years ago, you'd get a puzzled look from them. Now that it's been brow beaten into the geek scene that you must accept these edicts or die, they're eager to.show what good little allies they are. They just go wherever the tide takes them like the lazy, mindless salmon they are.
Probably several factors. Narcissism (inherent or acquired) is a big one. Being bullied in some form or another and the resulting feeling of powerlessness can have long-lasting effects on people, including a desire to be more powerful than those that hurt them, and some people blow that up into they don't just wanna be more powerful than some random asshole from grade 9, they want to be more powerful than EVERYBODY.
Oh the irony is the actor who started the MCU is a HUGE Mel Gibson supporter.

I know that norms like Bob will pull out the "movies don't have to follow the comics" card, but screw it. Riri demanded that her first-grade teacher oppress her and stole parts from MIT after they gave her a full scholarship because she is a savant whereas Tony built his armor from a box of scraps inside a came. Additionally, from what I can piece together, the tragedy that happened in her life (the deaths of her best friend and stepfather) is completely divorced from her motivations to be a hero. Part of the pathos of Tony Stark was the realization that the enemy was using his weapons to kill American soldier and his desire to atone for that. For Peter Parker it was the death of his uncle, which he could've stopped. Riri and this generation of heroes have no true motivations for taking up the costume beyond seeking attention and validation. Captain Marvel was a grim portent as she acted more like a narcissist throughout that film than an aspirational figure.
