Porsche constantly updated the Carrera 3.2, but the only major change you need to be aware of was the G50 gearbox from ’87. The original 915 transmission demanded patience – you had to let the oil warm, and make slow, deliberate shifts – but the later Getrag ’box delivers a more modern ‘rifle-bolt’ feel.

No ref to the specs. But I think you can still buy it from Porsche, which continues to manufacture parts for many of it's old models. The only info I could find with a quick search is on a pricey old 911 RSR IROC: Transmission is a 5-speed G15 gearbox with external oil cooler, favoured in the air-cooled racing community as a lightweight alternative to the later G50.

The immediate counter-counter point is they were usually single, not sitting at home buying a new porsche every month to replace the one they just destroyed, and every single one of them had their eyes on saving up for a down payment as soon as things started to stabilize for them.
