Twitch has been trying really hard over the past year or so to break adblockers. The only way I've found to get it to work is to manually add these lines to your filter list, and it limits your playback to 480p:

In regards to your first point, I agree. Families donfight, but not the incredibly sanitised, Idol 'family' the Reddit hugbox and JP unicorns insist Hololive is. Negativity is prohibited. The girls go through crushing mental health problems but have to keep mum about it so as not to rock the boat too hard.

In that regard, shouldn't that be the norm? Aren't vtubers suppose to be selling the whole family and fun shit? That's the main reason why I drifted from irl streamers, too much unnecessary drama. Shit, Nijisanji does a good job at this too. Who here knew Lulu was getting stalked? In fact, the whole stalking thing seriously soured me a bit on the vtuber experience since it was suppose to prevent shit like that hence why I despise people like Poka. And honestly, I never bought into the whole family schtick until I saw how everyone of the Holo girls stood beside Coco during the height of the chink BS. FBK in particular who was popular in China pretty much didn't give a fuck and stood beside Coco. I have no love for Cover's management but the girls are a different story.

In regards to your SECOND point, yes I also found on /vt/ Rie apologising and supporting the One China Policy. I also agree that Cover Corp are still on record for saying they also support it and never actually dialed that one back. Cover's hand was forced to back out of the CN market.

The same ones that used Sora's Bilibili account to promote anti-hololive posts, erased all of FBK's bilibili videos while being qouted saying that given a choice between their Oshi and their country they would rather burn everything down? Not every Chinese fan is a CCP drone, especially on YouTube where most of them are from other areas. That's just reality, and the likes of Selen and Petra especially deem English as their native tongue so I can't imagine them ACTUALLY harbouring any CCP values. Most multi-million companies yield to China, I'm not going to begrudge an Indie for doing the same.

I agree with this. As someone who watched Miki from time to time, I really don't want to involve her in this BS so you're right that I shouldn't hang this over them. Still FUCK the CCP though.

As for talking you off the ledge. Nijisanji is vast, and I actually couldn't recommend everyone I wanted to even if I sperged a whole list here. For a Holo-Only, their brand and way of operating may be a barrier to entry that takes a couple of attempts to really get your feet wet in, but the company isn't lacking in really entertaining and really talented members. Gibara and Lulu were stellar, but they're not the only ones.

Mayazumi is a savant in terms of creativity. I think it's you who's been posting recaps of his lore so thanks for that. It just sucks that I'm nowhere fluent enough in JP so I'm usually stuck following EN vtubers or someone who is willing to entertain EN audiences. The problem with some EN vtubers is that they either do the bad dubbing voice or are just boring as fuck. The only EN vtuber that i've really gotten into is Nina.

By and large the easiest way is to use mpv and youtube-dl. Any ads you see are injected into the video stream. If you have both installed just do "mpv https://twitch.tv/username"

Also if you use Linux (and you should, wincuck) you can simultaneously download and watch a stream using

youtube-dl STREAM_URL -o - | tee saved-filename.mp4 | mpv -
