RPGnet Forums

Makes you wonder if these people haven't played a few rounds of Skyrim or the Elder Scrolls.

Of course, they won't because everything that's remotely interesting is "problematic."
They never play anything, they know their cult of purity could turn on them at any moment, so the only way they have to stay on top is to never play. And they need to make sure others don't play as well to validate their beliefs.

This is pretty understandable behavior, and was basically inevitable once they reached a certain userbase size. Its human instinct to only care about inclusion when you feel like new blood is a resource, and to care more about enforcement and exclusion and power tripping when new blood feels more like competition. And that happens at certain threshold population sizes, regardless of how "nice" people think they are before their instincts get switched on.

Basically, the seeds of this whole mess may look cultural, but the actual behavior complex kicks in whenever the total "mod clique" exceeds Dunbar's number - which it did around 2006 or so.

You can see the same pattern play out on somethingawful, or any other big board you might care to look at.

Humans simply cant handle systems this big, with emotional feedback loops that are this tight, without going absolutely apeshit.

The "good" boards embrace this, and fold the apeshittery directly into their culture. But they still look just as horrific to outsiders.
This actually makes a lot of sense. I’ve always felt like the best forums were either those with a fixed group of 20-30 people who were really close (and what would these days be a private discord server) or like 200 regulars and about twice that in casuals, to keep things moving enough for regular discussion but not too quick to be impossible to keep up with.

The big issue is their own policies have ensured a complete loss of perspective. Moderates who play nice enough are gaslit and radicals have their beliefs constantly affirmed. The farms for example has (fucking weird) culture but soft touch moderation which allows deviance by contrast approx 50-95% of all human beings would be unsuited to rpgnets criteria.

RPGNetters have been trying to invent non-probematic games they are actually allowed to enjoy for a long time, but they inevitably go back to trying to infect real, successful ones because their wokeshit gets KS bucks, but not an actual player community. Plus the games and/or their authors turn out to be problematic in the next phase of the revolution. Or when the author is outed as a pervert.

That's one of the issues the people seem to have. They understand how to sell a product but don't understand that some products like boardgames, TTRPGs, and miniature games need a community to survive and their woke shit is counter productive to keeping a community alive.

The only thing that can save these kvetching marxtards from eternal irrelevancy is abandoning their stupid "woke" phase altogether. The more people they ban for twisting their panties, the more tumbleweeds they'll end up with.

They don't seem to understand that "REEEEEE" is not an argument. It doesn't convince anyone.

REEEEEEE is *never* an argument, nor is it intended to be. It's a threat display.

Right now, on their turf, it's a credible one.
It's more of a "smash up my shit" argument. Nobody is convinced by it, and people may be dissuaded by the threat display from openly addressing it, but they'll go full sabotage on your shit covertly once they've had it with your nonsense.

We’re getting a magic school setting for D&D? Gotta get that low hanging fruit and dunk on Rowling again.

Just FYI, Hasboro owns both MTG and D&D. They made D&D books for the mtg settings for about a year now starting with Ravinca. The latest magic set releasing today in fact is the D&D crossover. The previous set is the Harry Potter magic school one so about now is when the D&D tie in would be releasing.

And some have theorized that Stryxhaven may have been intended to be an actual licensed Harry Potter set though we may never know for sure, WotC did make the old HP CCG back in the day.

It's so good to see them reee about Harry Potter. Those faggots never read anything else and placed those books on a pedestal for more than a decade, and in the heydays of TDS were constantly making retarded comparisons between Drumpf and Voldemort. Then suddenly Rowling revealed that she did not worship filthy ladycocks and their cult-like beliefs compelled them to denounce her as an enemy and renounce their hitherto sacrosanct books.

She raped their collective childhoods with a single tweet and they've been coping hard ever since.

She recently tweeted about the psycho trannies- it was something along the lines of “now that I‘ve been subjected to bomb threats, rape threats and murder threats I can see that the transgender movement is not a danger to women”.
Her prose may be utilitarian and dreary but boy oh boy can she drop a snarky tweet.

"We're banning you for having a press conference to criticize us for infracting you for being too critical. Now we're going to have a press conference to explain why you're wrong and we're the real victims here!"
It's always funny when a long time poster realizes that the forum rules have changed around them without them realizing it. No, you're not special because you've been posting since 2002, Fabius. Now kiss the boot.
