Why is it that whenever Chris is a direct or indirect cause of something bad happening to one of his pets, it's either written off by his keepers as an issue the animal always had, or "it's a common situation pet-owners have"?
Yeah, sometimes Chris has a genuinely disturbing lack of empathy or understanding of what his lack of responsibility does to the creatures forced to co-exist with him at 14BC. I'm sure when Barb ultimately passes, he'll be more concerned about his livelihood being disrupted, but in that case I can give him a pass for barely giving a fuck about her beyond that. With animals though? Unlike Barb, who saw Chris as a burden or another tool for her to order about, his pets unconditionally loved him (with a few major exceptions, but still). When you own a pet, you are their entire world. When they are deprived of the affection and attention they need to be healthy, it's like a form of emotional abuse. Yeah maybe I'm being a melodramatic shithead but I just can't stand what he's done to those poor cats and dogs over the years- lack of understanding due to his low-functioning brain is not an excuse. I know 5 year olds who are more responsible pet owners. I know 5 year old with autism who are more responsible pet owners. I know adults with downs syndrome who are more responsible pet owners.
He just got $5k handed to him for a con, and apparently THAT was the biggest concern on his mind as opposed to a dying dog who needed proper medical care and surgery at the very least.
