I actually came here to ask something similar.

I've been out of the DSP loop for a while. We presume that last year DSP was buying all his gatcha stuff on Credit. However now that his credit is rocked, and (if someone is finance savy please let me know if a bank takes away your credit card after fumbling half a million like a moron) has to buy it all from his checking account. I'm genuinely confused on the situation. I understand he slipped through the crack because if any creditor or banker saw that his half a million dollar business was just sitting on his ass playing videogames they'd go ballistic.

Was it his "business" that went under, or him? So he could still be using credit?
1.) you either give up your credit card or the company closes it once they learn of your bankruptcy because the person can't pay it

2.) It's him. His business would be classified as a sole proprietorship, so I believe any liability the business would have, including debts, would technically be on him. Either way, the bankruptcy was filed under his name and his stuff, so it doesn't really matter in terms of your question I think.

He isn't using credit unless he got some really really really shitty credit card with a high interest rate. He "slipped through the cracks" because frankly his $500k in debt wasn't a lot compared to the other people he was around (I think there was someone who owned a yacht there), the legal people most likely didn't understand Youtube and certainly didn't understand streaming (which only made figuring out DSP more difficult), and it was the beginning of a worldwide pandemic that made life harder on everyone.

This also doesn't account for the possibility of people constantly sending shit to Nancy that could've resulted in her either being confused or feeling harassed to the point where she didn't give a fuck.

I'm aware his shit stunk. Are you saying that presumably his expenses are still 5K? This after the Khando got taken away right? (I'm still wondering if he would've been better off just selling it at a loss)
His monthly expenses should be relatively the same in terms of the business. I'm unsure if this is correct, but some people speculated that he managed to lump his mortgage payment into his monthly expenses. From what I've read, this is legitimately possible especially since he has a dedicated "office" that is "purely business." He still had the CTKhando at this point, but he was always better off selling it in the first place. He can't sell it though because 1.) at this point he doesn't own it anymore and 2.) last I've heard, there was a stench, mold growing on the walls, and a hole in the ceiling. It's hard to sell a place that's been vacant for years on end with no upkeep that's literally across the country.

His 5k expenses was how he sold the Judge on his bankruptcy by claiming his gatch habit as a business expense. It indicates how much he is/was spending on gatcha. Because anyone with common sense will know it doesnt cost you 5 grand a month to beg in a chair.

So to answer your original question, Phil personally went bankrupt by spending thousands a month on gatcha, and other shit like doordash at midnight for a snack, and an exercise bike he had to send back because attaching a seat was to hard for him.

He then used the fact that he streams on the internet to justify his personal gatcha habit. He didnt run his stream as a business at all, he used his inflated Twitch sub membership to really pay his bills and the tip money was just pocket money to him

So if I was a child, and I was explaining this to the teacher. Phil's "business" isn't hemorrhaging 5k a month, Phil's retarded PERSONAL spending habits were bleeding him to financial ruin. And so he ran screaming to the court that he couldn't keep his "business" afloat.

So that leads us to today. He's still begging like he's 10 dollars away from fiscal ruin. Awesome.

Yes.

I am fairly confident that this is the rough outline on how Phil and his lawyer arrived at the 5k expenses estimate.

Because Phil operates his “business” out of his home, he listed miscellaneous home bills like the utility bill, the internet bill etc. and potentially his mortgage as @Fill Bern El pointed out as biz expenses. Let’s call all that $2k (it’s really less).

Next, Phil lumped in his primary consoles (Xbox one and ps4) he was using at the time as monthly expenses at their new price even though they weren’t new and weren’t monthly expenses because he had bought them at one point.. Why do I think that? He’s always been very keen to mention the consoles are only used for business, that he never touches them in his free time, and that Khet can’t use them because they are business only. Notice that generally he’s always so quick to clarify that something is only used for business, I’m sure that was emphasized by his lawyer repeatedly during his bankruptcy (think about him saying the laptop is only for business, the desktop, how his ahffice is business only etc.) Let’s call the consoles/various electronics most 1k.

The rest of the monthly expense, or $2k, was due to “micro-transactions” as Phil admitted on his bankruptcy call. Of course we all know Phil’s micro transactions are his Champions and other gatcha spending. The amazing thing is that whomever that was who called in pretending to be one of his creditors fumbled it big time - all he had to ask Phil was ‘what were the specific micro transactions he is buying.’

I estimate that he was spending at the time at least $2k in gacha per month, and very likely closer to $3k, which is conveniently the amount one would have to spend if they hit a $100 tips goal everyday of the month with a little money extra for midnight doordash. Where’d the vest streak money go Phil?

Thanks for the money dummies.

So the Game Pass has gone from something he would do weekly to improve his stream, to something that is one of several choices if he hits the membership goal. But he's got his new toy to flex with, so fuck you.
I knew it. I fucking knew he would keep spending $60 to $70 on new games.

So, when's he gonna complain that Microsoft ripped him off because he forgot to turn off auto-renew?

You don't have to know X amount about a subject to want to make an unwise purchase though? I own a couple 44mags (revolver & lever action), but I still think about dropping $1k+ on a used Desert Eagle 44mag, I know it has gas feed issues that cause failures, but, I still want one. Be it larping i'm in CS 1.6 or having a new gadget to fixate on chat/tips, I don't see much of a difference between the frivilous spending.
You wanna talk CS LARPing I bought a fucking R8 to go with my .357 lever for some reason 😂

Anyone who sticks with Phil after Treat Yo’self 2021 is a cuck of the greatest possible magnitude.

EDIT: Uh-oh, Phil. What’s it going to be, on your Real Adult Day Off? Man of the People? Or Man with Turkey Burgers in his Freezer?

His expenses were NEVER $5K. The condo is still there, though it will eventually get taken away. His "$5K in business expenses" were a result of him putting what he was spending on gacha

If I recall from the paperwork the 5k monthly business expenses specifically excluded stuff like the mortgage and khando fees which were listed separately. basic living expenses for instance was listed as a separate 5k monthly expense. It was just a big unexplained lump that boomer nancy apparently bought hook line and sinker.

Wait, is the goal going back to 150? Why?
He gets his YouTube gibs today and even Phil understands he can’t get blood from a stone, so he’s benevolently easing the burden on his pigs, until the next time he decides to go on an online shopping spree, at least.

Wait, is the goal going back to 150? Why?
As a thank you to his fans for giving Phil money, he is asking for less money until he spends his youtube view and superchat money he gets today

He wont need to ask for $200 a stream again, he is all set, no need to beg no more. It is as I type gin tweet night and his day off tomorrow. But Phil totally wont blow every last penny before the weekend and need to raise the goal again until next month. No, the last three months where he did exactly that, and added a begathon in the middle wont happen again, Phil said so. Over and over again

Sounds good?

Yep. I'm willing to bet that entire YT paycheck will be fucking gone by the end of tomorrow. It's his "day off" so he has to "buy groceries", uhhhhh..."pay bills" and also "check his mail for fan donations". There will be an "unforeseen" expense Thursday so we might have to go back to a $200 tip goal, okay?

I can understand that Geoff can come off as gay, Phil. But given that you're a greasy dago I'd say he's out of your league. And since you're reading this, Phil, I won't tell you to lay off the gin. You're obviously too sad and lonely for that.

Though I bet you'd love to watch that with him.

Alright fellow autistic super-detectives. Place your bets. What's the surprise? Let's all be sick in the head mentally-ill tinfoil hat conspiracy theorists and... nail it on the head again just like the Series X and the laptop.

My top 5 in no particular order are as follows:

1) Green screen
2) New chair
3) New webcam
4) Steam Deck pre-order "anonymously gifted"
5) Something so unbelievably gay and nothing to do with his streams that even Doctor Strange didn't see it in any of the timelines
I'm liking 5, because it could be a new mail order bride! Maybe a hot Russian this time! That'd spice up the goutsphere for a while. "Yeah dood, I'm totally a polygamist *snort* Khet just wasn't enough to keep me satisfied. Tuhuh!" When the reality is the Khet has been gone to Tyrone's abode for a while.

As for serious speculation, I'm leaning new chair like the rest. He's too lazy and atrophied to set up the green screen. Yes, Phil, even if you think you can perform gay wrestling moves on any of us, the facts are you have trouble lifting a gallon of milk or a laptop. You'd probably get alcohol sweats just unboxing the thing and lifting it up. It's not too hard, and it'd greatly improve his streams, so it's likely why he refuses to do it. Another use the cam has is stalling to place it around, and Phil LOVES his no gameplay time in streams.

Streamdeck, nah. He'd have to learn to use it. He's got his shitty dollar store soundbox, he's happy with it. His only edited bit is the Strokechamp No anyway, and again, Phil loves that it takes him half a minute to set up the predictable as fuck punchline. It completely kills the pacing and the conversation every time he does it. Not even the wheelchairs like it. I've never seen Derich say the Strokechamp No is amazing and incredibly funny.

New webcam would be hilarious! 'Member when he did the phone stream? How wrinkled he was? How shiny and puffy his skin was? How old he actually looks? That big ass wart on the side of his mouth that he calls a "mole"? I doubt he wants to proudly strut his middle stage alcoholism look for the world to see. Not to mention he's gone balder since then. Not a chance in hell.

The real question is how is he gonna sell to us that this is all the work of either silent majority paypigs or one ridiculously generous khantributor? Maybe he let GaryBKK wreck his butt for a night and this is payment? Otherwise, trying to pass these all off as donations when it really was a shopping spree is pretty hard to believe. It's weird how little he tries to keep the scam credible. He's like an old hooker, can't even be fucked to pretend to be having a good time, or in his case, to be poor any more. Pretty soon we'll get I'M A SUCCESS speeches like if he were Big Smoke, all the while insistently begging.

Awesome.
If I remember Phil actually tried to pull the 'It's ME that's bankrupt. I'm filing for personal bankruptcy, my business is good' bullshit live during his 341 hearing call and Nancy had to tell the Serious Adult with a Business Degree that he's retarded. She had to explain to Mr Narc with a Business Degree that his business is a Sole Proprietorship so that means he is the company and there is no difference between them. If he is personally declaring bankruptcy his business is too as a Sole Proprietor.
He told the court that his business was making $9/month and costing $5K/month to run "so muh business is all good," but his problem is that his income after business expenses is $4K/month, his wife's income is $1K/month, and it costs Phil and Kathy $5,034/month just to live, therefore he couldn't possibly be expected to ever pay his credit debt or for his CT condo under foreclosure.

Phil on his bankruptcy filing was claiming to be spending $5K/month on "Necessary & Ordinary Business Expenses" and also as a household he and Kathy had $5K/month in personal expenses. This amount did not include his CT condo mortgage or HOA fees or the minimum payments on his credit debt.

There is nothing about the business or personal expenses he put on his bankruptcy filing that should have changed since getting his Chapter 7 discharge approved, except that they were a pack of lies.

On his bankruptcy filing Phil claimed that as a household he and Kathy net $-34/month. So in a year he and Kathy need $120,408 in income that all will get sent right back out the door just to break even.
But if you add in his CT condo fees ($1,400 iirc) and estimated credit debt minimum payments (like $2,600 iirc) that means before Phil quit paying for the CT condo and his credit debt he and Kathy needed $168,408/year or $14,034/month in income just to break even, sound good?

Always remember the time that a Kotaku writer showed what a pathological liar Philip "Darksydephil" Burnell is.

It was another example of DSP's habit of putting his toxic word salad in other people's mouths in his attempts to refute his detractors. The Kotaku writer even went so far as to post an audio excerpt of the phone interview, in order to show how much DSP twists and distorts other people's words to fit his narratives against the trolls.

This is why any story or anecdote that DSP relays needs to be taken with the heaviest grains of salt, because DSP's word cannot be trusted.

So, yeah, DSP throwing random potshots at Kotaku isn't surprising at all. We all know that DSP can hold a grudge, especially against people that expose Philip "Darksydephil" Burnell for the pathological liar that he is.

The Grift Continues . . .
Can I just dickride you for a second & reassert that your cameos bring me nothing but warm rays of velvet sunshine & absolute joy. #nohomo but i'd be remiss to not pop up & fangirl on you >2x/fiscal quarter.

Okay. Maybe #slightyhomo. 👀
