I wonder if they were trying to say that this is the first animated series with a lead trans character voiced by a trans VA.

Well aside from the 'flight of fancy' that this show would ever air anywhere on TV, there's the fact that these characters are so one note and ridiculous, coupled with the bad animation, the characters don't seem real at all.Ass Manager 3000 said:
If you want the characters to seem real, as well as likeable, shouldn't they have developed personalities and flaws? He keeps saying things about how you should write a good character, but you can bet that when this thing comes out, provided it's not a total scam, the TRANS LEAD CHARACTER is going to have zero personality aside from being trans, and will have zero flaws, because that might indicate she's a realistic person! The white guy will be a huge dick but he's white so he'll have no strengths. The other two are probably just there to take up space on their diversity checklist.
Also didn't someone post storyboard shots that showed them in space? Seems a bit much for a flight of fancy, right?

I think I can maybe shed a little light on that. A fair amount of transwomen start transitioning after puberty. By then the voice has already dropped and the vocal chords have already grown into their adult size. Hormone therapy, unfortunately, can't really do a lot for a male voice once it's hit puberty. So, I'm guessing, a lot of transwomen who transitioned as adults either have to go through professional voice-coaching, have to do a painfully forced falsetto that is unpleasant for everyone, or affect a more in-range gay guy voice.
Interestingly enough, when transmen go on testosterone, their voices deepen and this voice deepening is a permanent effect of the testosterone.
Don't get me wrong- Julie is still acting like a bitch with her head stuck far up her ass, but this is more of a "to be fair" post.
Hope this isn't too off-topic.
Edited because I JUST thought of something. If the gay guy voice is the only voice Julie can do, that most likely means she hasn't invested the time or effort to go into voice-coaching. This seems like a really lazy move for someone who is aspiring to be a professional voice-actor. Admittedly this is all pure conjecture, but considering all the high bar of quality that has already been set for Gen Zed- something like this wouldn't surprise me.
