Of all the trans people I've ever known, I can think of very few who felt no anxiety regarding their body. In fact, I would say the majority felt a lot of anxiety - regarding their voice, their height, weight, how long the electrolysis took to deal with their facial hair - and most of all, whether or not they passed in public. And let's not forget the mood swings - the result of oestrogen and testosterone battling it out within the transgendered person's body. So when I read Hayden Black's claim to have researched the character Shona Sommers by talking to trans people - I call bullshit. I mean, for God's sake - take a good look at the trans person he seems to have constantly at his side - the trans person on whom he clearly based his character. Then tell me this person feels "proud in her own body".
