I wouldn't say I'm "rooting" for the virus. I still have loyalty to the survival of my species, but I also realize this virus isn't the one that even dents us.
However, after seeing so many species go extinct because they can't adapt to the damage humans to their ecosystems, I can't help but nod in respect at a species which is basically running circles around the combined pharmaceutical might of the developed world.

Despite rising cases and several hundred new hospitalizations across the state over the last 3 days, California health officials have decided not to impose new mask requirements, shutdowns or other coronavirus restrictions.

Instead, during a media briefing this morning they said they would step up the campaign to get everyone vaccinated and announced new requirements for vaccinations and testing at healthcare facilities. They've been saying for 16 months that anyone that tests positive for COVID at the autopsy counts as a COVID death regardless of how they actually died.

This entire Covid ordeal really has given me a newfound disgust with many of the older people that I know, including immediate family. When I've talked to them about the effects it's having on the younger generations the response I've been given generally boils down to "lol tough shit, I got mine." Keep in mind that I'm pretty introverted and not very outgoing so it's not as if I'm arguing on behalf of my own interests (not being able to go to a concert or a club literally couldn't matter less to me.) I don't even usually engage in the topic from an economic standpoint, but rather a social one: younger people not being able to socialize as much in person (the grand irony is that I've grown up listening to non-stop boomer rants about how young people never get the fuck away from their screens), the kids who aren't able to be in classrooms with their young peers, not seeing the faces of their friends and teachers and being made to feel like they're living through some catastrophic event, etc.

It's not just the boomers though to be fair to them. It still surprises me just how many miserable Gen X people are like this, too. Then there's all of the soyfaced millennials and older Gen Z people who've been more than happy to beg for restrictions because going outside to get their Uber Eats deliveries already caused them panic attacks. And all of these fucks saying the stock lines like "We're all in this together! Do you your part, get the shot!" can suck a dick. Life could've been normal this whole time if YOU weren't the ones being selfish, so afraid of your own mortality. Instead you're more concerned about living your last shitty years lounging around on the couch watching Netflix while bitching that anyone who would dare risk getting a slightly worse flu is a walking bioterrorist.

Yeah, I've read about the lumps in breasts. It's so bad that they are telling people to not get their mamograms done like even months later. I think it's swollen lymphnodes. I know they can swell during illness, but it does sound strange.

Was she really pissing and shitting blood or was that just adding a bit of flair to the post? It wouldn't be the first time I heard of that either, but I have seen fewer reports of it than the breast lumps.
