So the CEO of my hospital was visiting personally at the departments of employees who have chosen not to get vaxxed asking them why and if they would like to change their mind right now with a pharmacist right there with a jab. What a manipulative piece of shit.
This has the same feel as those door to door/business to businesses salespeople who travel in pairs as a way to
bully intimidate persuade people to buy their sketchy products and services.
What these people don't get is that the more aggressively they peddle their wares to people, the less likely those people are to respond favorably because most hate being pushed into making an on-the-spot decision under duress.
swear we've seen this exact same tweet from the Biden/Kamala/POTUS/VP accounts at least a dozen times by now, down to the letter.
If I didn't know better, I'd question if Twitter has a queued post feature similar to Tumblr's where one can queue posts to be made on a periodic, automatic basis. If it is being automated somehow or simply copied & pasted every now and then, the message will ultimately get lost the more its repeated.
The tone and sentiment here towards unvaccinated people is getting pretty ugly
I agree. When the vaccines first came out, colleagues asked if/when I'd be getting vaccinated. I truthfully told them I'd prefer to wait to give the manufacturers a chance to address any side effects or other issues that came up. One admitted that my stance was reasonable and the other simply said in a non-pushy way that I should consider getting it at some point. In short, they both found my stance reasonable enough to accept and respect.
With sentiments changing since then, I have a feeling that this response being made now would lead to people being scREEched at, called all sorts of names for questioning the effectiveness of the vaccines, and being told they shouldn't be part of society.
It's also something to see the same people who go on about the evils of confining people are often the same ones advocating for the unvaccinated to somehow be sequestered from society.
I believe my state's number of vaccinated people remains around 62% (5 out of 8 people). and has flattened out after hitting that mark. Even after allowing for the usual anti-vaxxers who won't take any vaccines, I'm willing to bet the remaining 38% / 3 of 8 are people that simply don't want to take something whose long-term side effects remain unknown and those people that don't see a need for the vaccine in the present time and won't get one unless they absolutely have no choice. Bullying or ostracizing them won't persuade them to think otherwise.
Anyone still remember the field hospitals the US built but were never used?
I had two in my region of Kiwiland at one point. One barely had 10-20% utilization at its peak and I believe the other never saw anyone use it before being deactivated. From what I remember last year, this was true of most of these overflow facilities despite hospitals and emergency rooms claiming to be overloaded with COVID patients.
Biden's been in office for six months. How will they blame this on Trump (who has told people to get vaccinated)?
They will find a way. They always seem to no matter how contrived the logic is.
On this point, I think most people on all sides of the issue agree.
