Should probably just burn them at the stakeTheir feet should be put to the fucking fires for them degrading the trust of Science. As much as the "I FUCKING LOVE SCIENCE" community is annoying, i'd rather them exist than people trying holestic shit to heal themselves.
It's like Benjamin Franklin said;Well, it is cost efficient/efficient (in a purely financial sense) and convenient. The countryside will simply fade away because due to more efficient transportation and centralized production there is no reason for small communities to exist all over the place. With the countryside losing it's resource extraction and agricultural function they will simply have nothing to do. Thus more people will be funneled to the cities.
I am approaching this question from more of a cultural and power balance angle. Sure, the most efficient thing would be having one mega automated factory that then teleports the products everywhere. But when it comes to that, the owner of that factory will have absolute power over the consumer. The closest thing we have to this is the US cultural industry, and trust me you will see the same American movies, trends, fashions all over the place. Why? Because due to competitive advantages Hollywood etc is enjoying having a culture is not viable.
When focusing on efficiency and effectiveness all time time, one should be asking... towards what end? Because making rational decisions can be different depending on the goals after all.
“Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.”
Same could be said about "muh convenience" But in the end, convenience will always win.As for the power balance, I think the system is setup in a way to where you need to dick ride big corporations and the like to make a lot of money. (Not saying we need to "redistribute the wealth" though because that's just dumb and we all know how that ends up)
In the end, money is power.
