And no, crying doesn't make it emotional. It needs to be emotional for the viewer, the person who doesn't give two fucks about congress. It needs a personal connection, a reason for them to care.

My big thing with all of this is that I'm really lazy. I want to care. I really do. But this all happened half a year ago. These hearings should have happened months ago, at the very least, because I'm not really thinking about it anymore and can't really remember most of what happened. It's just not something I consider an immediate concern anymore. Inflation's on the rise, Delta's pummeling us, we still don't have that infrastructure bill figured out... Maybe the United States just can't deal with these important problems quickly anymore. Maybe there's a deeper issue underpinning all of this.
