‘Arthur’ Canceled at PBS After 25 Seasons - RIP Mr. Morris

It's definitely the end of an era. Arthur I think was the last bastion from the '90s on PBS now that I think about it, but it definitely fell into the same pitfall all long-runners fall into. It's a shame since it was pretty good at explaining social issues to children without completely dumbing it down for them. But yeah, the show was never the same when either/all of the above:
  • Mr. Morris left (coincidentally was the 9/11-inspired episode, everything changed after 9/11 after all)
  • Mr. Rogers passed away
  • The show started doing CGI DTV specials
  • The show moved to Flash
  • After Postcards from Buster was canceled
  • Yo-Yo Ma made an appearance
  • Art Garfunkel (the Singing Moose) happened
The fact they put a cap on it back in 2019 but then still made the BLM shit in response to 2020 had to have been the final nail in the coffin. I don't know if the ratings really did plummet after that or not, or if it was always dropping and it was just now time to bury it.

I'd be shocked if true given the show sucks nowadays. Makes me think PBS is running out of money. Did streaming finally kill off PBS?

The fact that it stayed relevant for 25 years due to memes being made from it is just proof that this stopped being a children’s show a long time ago.
