Jim Sterling / James "Stephanie" Sterling / James Stanton/Sexton & in memoriam TotalBiscuit (John Bain) - One Gaming Lolcow Thread

I watched a bit of the most recent video, got bored and turned off. It's just sad at this point.

What did stand out was Jim going 'I'm done, so done with the industry' or words to that effect. This then poses the age old question Jim, if you're done why are you still here? If 'holding evil game publishers to account' week after week isn't changing anything, and the glorious socialist tranny revolution isn't happening while whitey still controls the world, why not fuck off and do something you enjoy?

I honestly think Jim has enough of a hold on his patreon paypigs to switch from the JQ entirely to shit like the podcast and the toy videos and still keep at least some of his privately-funded welfare chugging along. I really can't fathom why he keeps doing and saying the same shit over and over again, while so clearly hating doing it. :stress:

It's fucked up that a woman killed herself, but fuck do I hate these faggots who when they hear something like that froth at the mouth to make it all about themselves and their agenda
This is really my issue with him. It all comes off as self serving in general.

Perhaps an unpopular opinion after seeing some replies here but I think the only positive thing he did was cover these kinds of issues which was the reason I started watching his videos, because I didnt know about this stuff (yes im saying this in past tense for a reason). But the problem arises when he then has to make the video about his own (supposed) persecution and goes to exaggerate and make claims about ethnic genocide of trans people in western countries and how jk rowling is personally leading the march and making speeches akin to hitler. People who do this seriously and not as a joke/parody makes you question if everything else they state is also an exaggeration, they do themselves no favours.

At first I was surprised he wasnt more ourtaged about this (again looking at his twitter), but then he couldnt make it about troon oppression so it made sense. He mentioned in the video that he was an edgy boy a few years ago and "has apologised for it numerous times ever since" except this is the first time I've heard him ackowledge this and i've never heard him aplogise for it. This is the reason I dont believe hes really changed because hes still the same perverted attention seeking buffoon but now tries to flash the victim card to make himself feel special and avoid accusations of hypocrisy.

This is what "Credibility" is about. The more bullshit you spout, the harder it is to take you seriously when you're correct about something. See: The boy who cried wolf.

I'm surprised there are people in this thread saying Jim is going back to his consumer advocate routes with this video. Taking shots at Blizzard right now is the safest, easiest way to be woke right now with barely any effort and zero risk of backlash.

I'm frustrated with this overall, as now the social media retards can "tackle" Blizzard and say job done. Wait until more than just a couple of companies get called out before patting the fat fuck on his back.

If someone wants to be a consumer advocate, they should ask why apparently the abuse was apparently an open secret yet no games journalists were aware of them.

I think Jim waited because he genuinely doesn't give enough of a shit, he's got his weird wrestling thing going now and failed to garner any meaningful interest on his channel for it with every attempt he's made. That and he probably realizes any impact it would have on his community has been diminished because he never shut up about Activision Blizzard, making people desensitized to it, or take it with a grain of salt, because Jim makes Bobby Kotick out to be literally mega jew Hitler every 3 minutes in a video.

Jim's got no drive or passion for making videos anymore, and it's apparent he doesn't care about what he produces, but it causes him pain to know that people are unsubscribing because they don't give a shit about what he's passionate about at the moment; trooning and wrestling. He tries to make it out like he's the victim, and that people who unscubscribed are biggots, and that he's entitled or owed those subscriptions, rather than people wanted content related to video games, not about his weird ass hobbies and personal issues or bitching about politics.

I'd love for him to answer what exactly he spends his patreon, youtube etc money or see an accounting of it, or see how he defends it while pretending to be pro workers rights and so on.

I'm in favour of these issues being brought to light and covered extensively, whether I think the allegations are credible or not, I just don't think Jim is the right person to do it because virtually all his arguments now are from emotion rather than any place of logic, education or professional knowledge. Also, yes the fact he always needs to find a way to make it about...I fucking hate this phrase...'me and mine'.

I'd much rather see these things covered by someone like Nick Rekieta (or anyone with actual legal experience) to pick apart the lawsuits, or failing that someone who can at least remain impartial and simply state the facts as they've been relayed so far.

Even if Jim could keep his troon shit out of it, I know he wouldn't be able to stop himself from editorialising and being extremely hyperbolic because he absolutely despises Activision, so he's the last person I'd go to if I actually wanted to be informed on the topic.

The whole thing is a shitshow because the lawsuit itself is pretty vague. The "allegations" are all coming from social media and "journalists", they're not included as part of the lawsuit itself.

Shit, if they had anything, don't you think the family of the girl who supposedly committed suicide because her nudes were leaked by the supervisor she was dating (that's like... three levels of wrong already) would have sued the company and collected a fat settlement before the girl's body even had time to cool?

I fucking hate this phrase...'me and mine'.
I said it before and I'll say it again, anytime someone says "me and mine" they're doing the equivalent of stolen valor. They're trying to appropriate someone else's experiences, struggles and triumphs and make them their own, without making any type of effort. People who are talking about the struggles of a group they actually belong to say "we" or "us" or "our".

That's what I find interesting, though, and why I enjoy watching people who actually know what they're talking about pick it apart and explain, in legal terms, why none of this could possibly stand up in court, as opposed to Jim who just uses it as a springboard to rant about Activision and 'muh trans genocide' for fifteen minutes.

And you just know when this all inevitably goes nowhere and the lawsuit gets tossed out he's gonna make an even saltier rant.

There are people who cover this topic much better than Jim. For video game news there's no reason to watch Jim anymore. As much as I gave him credit for improving but here we go again.

If someone wants to be a consumer advocate, they should ask why apparently the abuse was apparently an open secret yet no games journalists were aware of them.

He has long ago stopped being a customer advocate. He sees the customer as part of the problem and puts the responsibility on the customer to investigate the companies that they buy games from. He is a game developer advocate as long as you are not a man because men are the root of all evil.

I mean you're on point with the Mega Jew part

Is there a good video to watch about this at all? I know Upper Echelon did something but his was very general and just did an overview.

I'd also like to know this. I think Nick Rekieta has talked about it on stream and Leonard French has also gone over the court papers but I haven't watched either yet and I'd really prefer a more concise breakdown than the long-form livestream discussions.

Quick sidenote: One interesting thing I caught from the start of the French video is the opening statement in the lawsuit quotes the bullshit statistic about women making up half of gamers in the United States --for anyone unaware, this was contrived by counting respondents who said they occasionally played Candy Crush or Solitaire as 'gamers'-- so that really sets the tone, in my opinion.

Which is why its good the activision blizzard story was covered by multiple people a few weeks before he did, given the severity of it. Most of his videos are just rants which again, im not against, but people rarely tune into rants on youtube for information, they mostly tune in for entertainment value which is why people tend to rant about insubsequential things like awful movies and videogames, not stories like this.

Going back to my opportunist comment I made about him, look what I just spotted
captialism.jpg

Wasnt he bitching about companies marketing to the lgbt crowd to make money for themselves? Again, im not against people making their own merch, I just find it hypocritial given hes done at least 2 full videos about how those making products towards minority groups to line their own pockets are predatory capitalist scum.

But, but it's a minority grifting to other minorities, its fine! He has to get that honey pot back over 15k a month somehow!
