the shading and lighting effects are all simple, defined shapes with no gradation
there is no texture to map or render or manipulate

I could forgive him that if he were doing a proper ligne claire style, but those are filled with detail and carefully use scale and perspective to make the scene look more dynamic and show depth. This is just a plain, flat, green void with a couple of furries slapped in.
