You might be right that blaming the lack to staff would lead Karens simply retorting, "So hire more people, duh!" Blaming COVID is probably easier and leads to less pushback because nearly everyone feels frustrated by COVID at this point.
I think it's the constant barrage of conflicting advice and directives that has the average normie feeling as if it's impossible to know what should and shouldn't be done. Instead, many people are doing whatever they want and figuring it must be okay to do if they aren't getting sick.
In the earlier post when I expressed how sentiments have changed towards people not wanting a vaccine or wanting to wait to make sure there's no nasty long-term side effects, I had someone accuse me of being an anti-vaxxer regarding my decision to wait as long as possible. I pointed out how the MD that speaks on the evening news said at the beginning of 2021 that it takes two years or so to know what long-term side effects may exist. when I pointed out that disagreeing with that statement would be disagreeing with the doctor whose non-COVID information had been respected by them, they had nothing to say in reply.
Still, it's something to see how people will selectively believe what they want by talking heads as a form of confirmation bias and not look into the credibility or authority of who's making the comments.
Agreed. With a number of businesses having closed for good due to COVID restrictions, those workers need employment somewhere/anywhere because unemployment -- even with the Federal add-on -- still isn't enough for many to pay their bills that usually include monthly rent or mortgage payments that are high enough to easily dwarf a month's worth of full unemployment benefits and leave no money for other essential expenses (i.e. food and utilities).
Also, I'll be curious to see what happens to anyone who is let go from a job for refusing a COVID vaccine. It's possible employers might state that those individuals refused a necessary condition for keeping their job in an attempt to deny the latter's unemployment claims. I have no idea if that's happened yet, but I imagine we might see it start to happen once vaccine mandates become more of a thing with employers and they follow through with terminating anyone who declines a vaccine after FDA approval.
That's presented a catch 22. In my state, the black lieutenant governor made a whole production out of how the low vaccination rate/high death rate for blacks was the product of racism in some combination of its systematic and institutional forms. This led to a push to mandate anti-bias training for health care pros and to get more minorities vaccinated. The latest effort for the latter is an effort by black pastors to encourage their congregations to get vaccinated while the opportunity exists.
The rub is that if the vaccination rate for minorities remains much lower than average, it might suggest that racism isn't as much as a factor as claimed. And since that would destroy the narrative and all the directives made in response to address and end racism among health care pros (at least in my state), the powers that be can't have that and will likely pull out all the stops to keep their narrative intact.
That's the thing; pre-existing conditions may or may not play a part in COVID deaths, but I imagine can vary from person to person in that some may be impacted and others may not. Unfortunately, COVID is so political now that we'll never get an objective investigation or analysis into which pre-existing conditions exacerbate COVID and to what degree. This is unfortunate because this is the sort of research and information that might be useful to know more about COVID and how to better address it in people more susceptible to it.

I remember putting a study that's been replicated multiple times and was created during 2016- so before this whole retarded bullshit, in this thread that showed that cloth masks are 20% effective in keeping any pathogen of similar size and shape to coronaviruses, while surgical masks are 70%, and then N95 was like 99%.
I really should find it tbh.

N95 are useless as well unless they're worn properly. They should be tight fitting, you shouldn't be feeling your breath in your eyes when you put one on. You should only wear them for a max 15 minutes if used to stop viral inhalation (that's what they're rated for). The ones with the exhalation valves, which are designed for construction work, would be my choice (if I was choosing). They;re more comfortable, it's easier to maintain a proper seal and they will offer more protection. The problem is that the exhalation valve allows you to spread your germs if you're infected, which is why some places ban them.
