Most humans who rename themselves for a new identity seem to go for cooler names, but troons go the extra mile for stripper names and porn novel heroine names. There's very few times I hear natal women born or choosing those stupidass names (even hippies go for "harmony" or other peaceful virtue names).

Their name distances themselves from their (possibly but lots of liars) abusive parents who chose the first name, and their whole bastard family if their last name goes as well. I am a self made woman, I chose everything and I deserve to be called this for all my misfortune the world inflicted on me (aka you). Its one of the reasons calling troons like that by their deadname is so funny in addition to their chimpout: the contrast between "Vanessa Nightshade" or "Sophia Rememberance" and deadnames Jim Brown or Greg Jones is great.

There's nice troons who just have no taste or self awareness (the actually autistic of the troons) but the picked name usually is a warning sign.

You guys are thinking way too hard about Ripley’s Ivy League comment. He isn’t and has never been an instructor or professor at a university. What it means when he says “taught at an Ivy League” is that he was a speaker at some LGBTQIA+ event one time. That’s all it ever is. Sometimes it just means they went to the event and talked to someone, thus “taught” someone something. He’s purposely being vague.

I once knew a troon who claimed he "taught history" when the truth is that when he was in high school he was briefly a tutor for the elementary school-aged kids of a family friend.

Note that those are all reasonable choices--if you want a stage name for your drag queen persona, because those should be obviously chosen/stage names.

You don't even need to see them to clock them, you'll be pretty damn accurate on the name alone, and you'll feel horrible for any highly unlucky natal woman whose parents inflicted on her a name that should be attached to a troon. (Fun fact! A lot of these names might find themselves treated as spam by things like...say...the pharmacy's computers.)

I have also strongly suspected that he got his name from the Alien franchise character. I've known other men who have really, really liked Sigourney Weaver's portrayal of Ellen Ripley, I believe he's probably one of them. This one Ellen-Ripley-loving-guy I know and the troon Ripley share some similarities.

I strongly doubt that this is where he got his name from. However, if he ever hears this question that you're asking, I'm almost certain that he'll lie and say that it was inspired by the person you're suggesting inspired it. His chosen name is just so fucking stupid. Also, it isn't one he chose recently. That woman died recently, that would've probably been when she wound up back in the news again after a long time of being ignored. That'd probably be the only time that he would've encountered her name during his adult life. This is a guy without anything that even remotely resembles a stable internal identity. All troons are highly suggestible, the fact that they're troons sorta proves that.

Really, his name is the kinda name I might've come up with for a video game profile or something, back when I played vidya. You know, like a joke or something. If I'm being completely honest I think I would've kept trying to find another character name if I landed on "Ripley Tempest Storm" because it sounds way too much like something a 13yo would've come up with if they lived back in 1995, watched a shitload of anime, and were trying to sound like a badass online or something. Like that hilarious movie Hackers, "Crash Override" and "Acid Burn" lol jfc. Except in this case we have a retard that's decided this is what their actual name should be. "Can't you tell that the person with this name is somebody special?" Is probably literally what every troon wants to believe others will think when they're hearing the troon's chosen name.

Why would anyone call themselves “Tempest Storm”? Those words mean the same thing, surely one would know that before choosing it as a name. Also I’ve complained about this before but why tf is he allowed to make up a new birth certificate? That kind of defeats the whole point of a birth certificate. Also who gets that changed before changing the name on your health insurance?
