A "non-profit" is any organization which does not exist to generate profit. A PAC is generally such an entity. "Non-profit" isn't synonymous with charitable purposes nor is it synonymous with being benevolent. What's shady isn't calling the organization that, it's all the Potbelly and other bullshit John spends the money on with tenuous at best connections to the supposed purpose of the PAC.

Looks like they prioritizing battery life (with no back light), and an accessible SDK so it is easier to make your own games/software. Looks like Bluetooth is an optional feature for later, no idea how that will work. It looks like the thing only exists in prototypes, but if the build quality is good I can see it occupying a niche. Though their stupid fucking crank is going to really fuck with the ability to pocket the thing.
But they have really fucked over themselves in a lot of key ways. No headphone jack, so if you wanted to use it as MP3 player or streaming node, you'll need to wait for the 'coming soon' bluetooth.
But clearly they have sucked the right dicks to make this THE conspicuous consumer item for 2021.... or 2022. Or 2023. Whenever it ships after the inevitable supply chain issues.
tl;dr Crank or not, you are a easily sucked consoomer whore if you are preordering this shit and not waiting for units to at least get into the hands of impartial reviewers. So of course John is in.
I don't care about that. They are going too far up their own asses about "ITS A SURPRISE!", but fine, games trickle in. I'm good with that. What I'm not good with is having no fucking clue about the games, size, if I can have more than 2 on my device, etc.

The screenshot above is every ad they've paid for on youtube. You can see that three of them look exactly the same, and it is the same, because they fucked up their first ad, took it down only to fail again.

Banned ad info, it was almost instantly removed by google.

All in all Wu only ran three ads, I don't count the banned one.

Preach nigga. Can't stand how this generation is. I knew a guy who was one of those lefty types like John. He is the kind who will talk about free schooling and all public services for free, assuming they just run themselves. Complains about minimum wage/living wage shit, but buys pot every week, airsoft gun shit, Warhammer minatures, and lives in an area he can't afford. Never considers saving money, but demands more.

It reminds me a lot of the Ouya. Which was billed to be the indie dream machine. We all know how that turned out.
To give credit where credit is due PlayDate has two esteemed Indie Autuers on its initial launch; Lucas Pope (Obra-Dinn, Papers Please) and Bennet Foddy. This does mean it has more artistic value than what the Ouya ever delivered. But I highly doubt they've made anything that will be a modern day Link's Awakening, and even if they accomplished such a feat they'll without a doubt port them to platforms people actually own.
If you just love gaming period do what you want with your money and buy one. I just hope no one expects this stupid toy to be anything beyond a silly novelty.
