I think the real disappointing thing about all this, is that it has basically killed the chance for a "redemption arc"/a happy ending for Chris. Most of his trolls and followers have never wished ill will on him, there's always been a forlorn hope that he would one day straighten himself out, get a job and live independently. Before yesterday I think most people except the weens and A-Logs would have cheered him on if he (somehow) managed to pull that off.

Agree with everything except the "high functioning" part, IMO Chris falls more on the moderate (although not quite severe) end of the spectrum. It's not like he's just slightly socially awkward and has obsessive interests, he's completely incapable of looking after himself. There are literally people with Down's syndrome who are more mentally competent than he is.
