I don’t want this to come off as concern trolling, but do you have the legal authority to request a refund? Presumably if some paid Chris money for a commission, Chris completed to the commission, and GoFundMe is holding the money in escrow, he’s legally entitled to that money. I know you probably have some privileges since you set up the fundraiser, but I’d really hit up a lawyer and ask if you’re allowed to do that before you do

Chris is not going to Pony Con therefore the objective of the GFM is Null and void. The obligations may have been fulfilled but people may have donated specifically to see how he faired on the trip instead of receiving a commission. This is most likely the best way Josh can go about things.
