With regards to the talk about his mental illnesses, I'm not really sure if there is anything that could actually get him sent to involuntary psychiatric care over prison. I don't know Virginia statutes but in most states, the statutes require your mental illness to either directly have been the cause of you committing the crime, or it prohibited you from understanding right from wrong. Keep in mind, Dahmer tried to use necrophilia as a defense and that was rejected.

mental illness is very hard to prove as the sole reason for a crime, but what about mental retardation? he has the most well documented case of being a gullible retard, completely unable to tell fact from fiction. that will be what gets him leniency if he gets charged with anything
