This is something I think cannot be stressed enough, the dude literally went out and bought a book on how to fuck his own mother, there was meticulous planning that went into this.
He slowly and purposefully introduced sex into a series of ever escalating massage sessions that he was telling her was for her own health.
This is not the actions of an insane man, but the actions of a criminally aware psychopath.
Anyone claiming he has even the slightest chance of the insanity plea needs to review the evidence and how horrifyingly well thought out and planned all of this was.

I'd say the opposite. Buying that book is strong evidence that he viewed the relationship as consensual, and IIRC when someone posted the index of the book here it clearly had chapters about avoiding abuse and establishing consent. The book wasn't some pick-up guide on the senile, it was a text for couples to overcome disability.
