So, anyone want to bet on whether or not this actually gets made? I'm talking 12 episodes, each containing at least 22 minutes of content. That's just one short season. I highly doubt it will make it that far. This thing is destined to fizzle out and die.

A part of me is hoping that it does get made, so that we can have Gen Zed: The Annotated Series.

This series will go in the driection of Tropes Vs. Women and it will end with the excuse of "Trolls." Instead of creating episodes it will turn into a lecture fest of how the internet is full of meanies. Sure there may be a few made, but eventually it will be all about the soapbox.

I like how they are backpedeling at the moment. They noticed the failure of advertising what they believed to be THE way to get their show out there and are now trying to show that their little show has more to offer.

The thing is though, a trailer should show the story to a degree that people want to see more of it. Instead, we get unfunny jokes and this entire FIRST TRANS VA EVER thing rubbed in our face. Heck, Shona putting up that poster of a dead person shows that she revolves around being trans and I always found that to be entirely odd.
It's a good thing to say that you are for a cause, but rubbing the cause in the face of someone will make them dislike it in the end. Just look at environmental shows/movies. (Though I honestly even think that Captain planet had more to offer than this.) You need to be subtle about messages like this. Instead of explaining them via your characters, just show your characters to live that style.

The only thing they can hope for them now, is that the show itself is really as good as they all praise it to be. And if it is not, that they take the advice that people are giving them and the things that upset people about the show and change the show around to become better. From what I can see from their attitude however, they won't and instead go the Chris chan route and just say that the trolls just hate it cause trans or something.

And I just do not think the show will be good in total.

If the money-grabbing wasn't obvious enough already, they have a store!

You can buy amazing art featuring the show's unique cringeworthy brand of humour on every surface imaginable!
How about a T-shirt with the infamous "Lana del Cray" line? Or a duvet cover featuring whatshisname's gorgeous face? Framed prints? Leggings? The possibilities are endless!

Hoping for them getting hit with copyright infringement. Even the original merch is crap.

I knew it. Did Hayden see this yet?

Also I could've sworn that there was an anime that was on a few years ago that was about a boy and girl who were both trans and the entire series was about them going through their transition in a serious tone. I'm having a hard time finding its existence namely because I don't even remember the name of it.

Wait found it. Wandering Son. Never watched it myself so I can't really vouch for the quality of it.

That, and there actually are manga and anime where trans people are portrayed sympathetically and rather realistically, like Wandering Son and Bokura No Hentai (no, it's not hentai, the english translation of the name is "Our Transformations"). And honestly, from the look of things, I doubt that series like Gen Zed and Assigned Male handle transgender issues better than these series.

Edit:

I should warn you that numerous wikipedia editors consider "transgender" to be an umbrella term that also includes gender non-conforming people, so some of the series listed on that page might be about cross-dressers and etc. and not transgender people in the sense that we know.

This tranny stands corrected, thank you shitlords. Still, the way the Japanese view trans people is different and yet these people are expecting them to adhere to Western views on trans people, which is just wrong.

I'm not sure about him being trans; can't overshadow Trans Mary Sue. Maybe some tumblr gender.
I do believe they said to have a trans male, but I agree, that will probably not be in the main cast. I'd say his a cloest gay, and they will say his anger stems from there.... or is that expecting to much character development and depth?

I dunno. I'm guessing there might be a relatively decent amount of views for episode one- mostly due to people watching to see if it's really going to be as bad as the trailer makes it out to be. Then once everyone's initial curiosity has been satisfied, the show will probably die quietly as interest quickly drops, because it's a bad comedy. Bad horror/drama can be enjoyed because of possible unintentional hilarity, whereas bad comedy is just an unpleasant experience that not many want to repeat.

Very much doubt this will ever be made, or if it is, then it will make one episode and then never return. Production costs for 22 minute long episodes would just be way too damn high.

To put it in perspective, and episode of Family Guy takes 9 months to make, and that's a studio with a budget and outsourcing. So they'll have to switch to short episodes (maybe like 3 - 5 minutes long) if they want to get a series out at all (after reading their website, this might be what they're doing, but not quite sure).

Wish they would reevaluate the palettes, though. They just look mucky.

Hayden said the episodes will only be 7-8 minuets long.

Heads up

That release date keeps getting pushed back...

The one thing I will give them (assuming it does actually come out) is unlike the rest of tumblr who spends all their days whining about no representation and about how trans Samus is, at least this group of people is actually doing something.

I also do not believe gamergate will be discussed because as many have pointed out, despite the shows premise being about four gamers, there is no indication in the trailer or otherwise that these people actually play video games.

Well neither do half of aGG but it doesn't stop them from thinking theirs' is the only way to run the industry.

Okay, here:

This is the story of four geeks in a board gaming club that decide to move in with each other. Though one is a pity flatmate that crashes on the couch and eats their food. They also play miniatures war games, of which a particular favorite is Battlemaul, put out by a money-grubbing British company Games... uh... Renaissance Faire... I'm workshopping the name there.

It stars the first ever transmale character voiced by an actual transmale who found on Craigslist.

Join the misadventures of... um... Aidan... who is a transmale. He, like, plays the games which are a hotbed of insecure manchildren who don't know of his secret pre-op vagina because he doesn't fucking tell anyone. He's a proud man, but the sexist culture of miniatures wargaming leaves him conflicted about... things. And, um, some kind of dysphoria episode with baseball or something, because every show has to have a sports episode.

And there are three other characters who have adventures with Aidan.
I took all but six minutes on that.

It already sounds better than Gen Zed.

you know, If we made a 4-5 minute webisode out of that premise we would have the first trans lead.

What would hayden and co do then?
