Jim Sterling / James "Stephanie" Sterling / James Stanton/Sexton & in memoriam TotalBiscuit (John Bain) - One Gaming Lolcow Thread

Another thing that struck me about the latest Jimquisition is that Jim is an old man. He is ashamed of his edgy past, and bitter that life did not turn out his way. I've already done a rant on this before but good lord Jim sounds so much like a bitter old man. The damn kids (gamers) better get off his lawn.

I will grant that these accusations at Activision Blizzard are truly awful and seem to have more teeth since we are seeing actual legal action instead of just the court room of Twit and Er. However, there are people who cover this so much better without all the bitterness and hatred. Again, there is no reason to watch Jim anymore if you want game coverage.

That's the problem with this whole thing. We don't know how credible these accusations are yet. The whole document is written like a hit-piece, and the lawsuit is being filed by a department with a clear interest in punishment and reparations as opposed to establishing the truth. The whole thing is a litany of talking points, and if I were a conspiratorial man I would suspect California of trying to railroad this whole thing. For all the buzz about sexism in the workforce, no huge corporation was ever nailed for it as publicly as they're trying to nail Blizzard.

I think Jim waited because he genuinely doesn't give enough of a shit, he's got his weird wrestling thing going now and failed to garner any meaningful interest on his channel for it with every attempt he's made. That and he probably realizes any impact it would have on his community has been diminished because he never shut up about Activision Blizzard, making people desensitized to it, or take it with a grain of salt, because Jim makes Bobby Kotick out to be literally mega jew Hitler every 3 minutes in a video.

Jim's got no drive or passion for making videos anymore, and it's apparent he doesn't care about what he produces, but it causes him pain to know that people are unsubscribing because they don't give a shit about what he's passionate about at the moment; trooning and wrestling. He tries to make it out like he's the victim, and that people who unscubscribed are biggots, and that he's entitled or owed those subscriptions, rather than people wanted content related to video games, not about his weird ass hobbies and personal issues or bitching about politics.

I'd love for him to answer what exactly he spends his patreon, youtube etc money or see an accounting of it, or see how he defends it while pretending to be pro workers rights and so on.
The only reason I would care is because of his pro-socialism shit. Because he makes excuses for whenever he participates and enjoys the fruits of capitalism. Outside of that, I really don't give a fuck what people do with their money. It's mostly just an avenue to laugh at him.

Going back to my opportunist comment I made about him, look what I just spotted

Wasnt he bitching about companies marketing to the lgbt crowd to make money for themselves? Again, im not against people making their own merch, I just find it hypocritial given hes done at least 2 full videos about how those making products towards minority groups to line their own pockets are predatory capitalise scum.
Putting the minority exploitation to the side, this is a pretty big oof yikes chief moment with the shirt's message, given we're only a couple weeks on from the 'we're going to convert your children' song that got pulled after half the choir were exposed as chesters.

I appreciate it's just supposed to be a joke and people like Jim couldn't care less about winning people over, but I think I'd rather wear the Broke Dick Farms shirt than this.

Apparently Jim's lack of passion for videos games is the fault of those evil game devs and evil gamers.
The people who make video games can't stand him.
The people who play video games can't stand him.
The people who review video games can't stand him.

Yeah, normally I wouldn't give a shit, but I would love for his fans to see how he's living and spending their cash and have it yoinked after they see how he's the type of person he complains about most. That and the misery he'd feel from being forced to sell the stupid Boglins etc to buy food would bring me great joy.

Even though I suspect a fair portion of it to be true, I think your caution is smart. Depending on the studio you're at, the video games industry is harsh to everybody involved, and it wouldn't shock me of some inexperienced women at Blizzard thought that harshness was only being directed at them. And I don't know how you even prove that just the women were being underappreciated and underpaid.

Seeing all the opportunistic people who are trying to attach their politics to this issue makes me think that certain things are going to be exaggerated in order to advance women and minorities in the industry. I'm just waiting for Anita Sarkeesian to try to use this in some way.

I know it won't happen, but I would laugh my ass off if Billion-Dollar Bobby just said 'ah fuck it' and shitcanned the entire company. Extra points if he gives himself and the other execs a massive golden parachute on the way out the door.

I think Jim would literally die from seething.

A friend of mine is a contract game dev who has worked short-term contracts for studios all over the world, and he said that he quit Blizzard 2 weeks into a 3-month contract last year because it was the most toxic work environment he has ever worked in (and he's worked for fucking Ubisoft). That was in a fairly progressive European country too, ActiBlizz is rotten from the top down, and whilst I don't know for sure whether the letter of these particular allegations are true or not, let's just say my friend finds them very plausible.

“One woman committed suicide after the supervisor she was dating shared naked pictures of her”
It is extremely hard to prove motivation for suicide. She would have been more useful alive since it would be a revenge porn case, something California is very strict about. But no, it wasn’t, and this will be laughed out of court.
If this one actually sticks, Zoe Quinn should be on the docket next.

Which is why its good the activision blizzard story was covered by multiple people a few weeks before he did, given the severity of it. Most of his videos are just rants which again, im not against, but people rarely tune into rants on youtube for information, they mostly tune in for entertainment value which is why people tend to rant about insubsequential things like awful movies and videogames, not stories like this.

Oh, but it's okay that he does it, because he trooned out, so he's officially part of the LGBT, and the evils of Capitalism are only good when they do it. Everything the LGBT does is exempt from criticism because they're "marginalized".

All this really confirms is that James is a hypocrite, which we already knew anyways.

Fun fact: The acronym LGBT was originally just a common misspelling of LGTB (Let's get this bread). In one of the boldest pr-moves in known history the group rebranded, in order to become less on the nose with their mission statement. It worked. And they became the LGBT we all know and love today

You know that classic sitcom story where a character gets obsessed with being part of a group and becomes a poser of sort for it in record time (Since, sitcom, gotta get back to the starting point within 30 minutes), hamming it up and putting it at the forefront of their identity despite obviously lacking the experience/knowledge to really back all of that up ? Obviously in those sitcoms the character inevitably goes back to normal, usually after some colossal blunder, but let's keep it about that sudden poser-ness - for now.

Jim's "me and my people" really makes me think of that, 'cause, reminder, it's not even been a year, if I'm following the timeline of events; In some countries, that's not even enough to qualify for many transgender procedures (Name change, surgeries - sometimes even hormones if they're not the Land of the Free). And on top of that he's a pretty damned privileged person, both financially and socially; He's definitely not one of those transgender prostitutes who regularly get stabbed.

Point being for someone talking about "muh people", he barely even belongs to that people in the first place (For now, admittedly, that could change) and certainly cannot possibly represent it with such a tiny, limited experience, which on top of that really doesn't include the worst aspects of it.

Reminds me of those early teenage LGBT kids who just came out as whatever-the-fuck, so the first things they do is lord their new identities to everyone around them and show how "in" they are by over-representing the LGBT community.

No one likes those kinds of people. No one wants someone whose come out as gay/lesbian/trans come at them at 100 miles per hour because they see it as being so cool to them. They forget that the people around them (especially loved ones) need time to process the change and become more accepting of it. Jim pulling this shit just looks like he's trying to hard.

You trooned out, Jim. Congrats to you, or whatever. Now shut the fuck up.

The same thing happens with religious converts
