That's one reason why, even though I find neo paganism to be a bit silly, it could be used in a self care or self help way. Therapy and actual medical help are the first avenue of course. But if doing harmless but silly rituals, meditating to focus, using nice smelling candles, and looking at pretty rocks helps you calm down and focus on what you want to do then sure, go ahead. When it gets into expecting your "spells" to just do things for you, then that's lazy and doesn't work. It's a fine line. The interesting thing I have noticed is a lot of the "spell work" these Neo-Wiccans are doing seems an awful lot like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy with a witchy veneer. It's using action to change thoughts or emotions.
Which really goes to show these people just need a good therapist.
If you actually take in depth classes about how to grow, identify, preserve, and understand the uses of medicinal herbs I guess it's not that bad. But, exactly what legitimacy would an online course have for that sort of thing? I might be wrong, but I recall an English university offering an actual course on it. It reminds me of how Harvard (I think) has a course on being a pirate. It could be fun if you have the spare time and money to learn about skills of the past. But they don't have as much use today in real applications. One of my friends is into this stupid stuff. She even took online courses to become an "apothecary". It just seems really dumb to me,
