Astrology does not use the constellations. Nope. We don't. Constellations and signs are two different things, just named the same because the constellations the signs are named after (the shapes are largely a human construct) used to align with the signs. They're probably using the tropical Zodiac, which was popularized by William Lilly in the 1600s and is useless now. If you can go to Astrodienest and select the option for Sidereal, and then it will give you a list of other Zodiacs, use the Fagan-Allen Zodiac. It's based on the position of the zodiac that is the most current in the sky.

In astrology, we take the ecliptic and divide it up into 12 exactly equal signs of 30 degrees each. Note that constellations vary wildly in size, from about 20 to 50 degrees, yet in our charts and what we work with, each sign is exactly 30 degrees.
We then take 0 Aries and place it at the Vernal Equinox. The remaining cardinal signs all fall on the other points: 0 cancer is the summer solstice, 0 Libra the fall equinox, 0 capricorn the winter solstice. Just adjust accordingly for southern hemisphere.
The Precession of the Equinoxes that people love to trot out as proof against astrology (even from other systems of astrology, against western) is completely irrelevant to astrology. And no, it's not that the ancients didn't know about it.
So no, you can't make astronomy and astrology line up, at least not in terms of constellations and signs, since they are different constructs. However, astrology does stay true to the astronomical geometry/distance between planets, and things like new and full moons, eclipses, etc.
Some will say vedic/sidereal is "more accurate" because they account for the precession. But they do divide up the ecliptic just as we do, they just place 0 Aries at one of several different points than where we place it. And so, they have planets in signs that don't relate to the astronomical constellations as well. Both systems are valid. And each system has many other tools - much of which is very much the same, some of which is not.
