Well that makes me feel a little better with regards to the parentals, both of whom caught it before getting the shots. Though now I'm worried about my brother and sister-in-law who only went out for bare essentials for months trying to avoid the coof, and I don't believe either of them caught it before the jab. Anyone who has lived in New York with clear eyes knows that the institutional media (e.g. the NYT) isn't going to take crime seriously until a staffer is murdered in daylight right outside the NYT building. Until then, you won't really see anything from the media about crime.

We know that:
1. Vaccinated people can get covid.
2. COVID + Vaccinated people have similar viral loads to unvaccinated COVID + people.
3. The vaccine only prevents serious illness in most people excluding the elderly and those with fucked up immune systems.
4. Vaccinated persons can still transmit the virus.

So why aren't they just requiring all guests have a negative test as that reduces the chance of both vaccinated and unvaccinated COVID spread?

I've noticed in my part of the state that it's the big national chains that are requiring masks again but the local chains don't care.

I want to believe you're right, I really do, but I also don't trust the average resident of the five boroughs to have a level head about this, especially if Biden decides to go through with another round of lockdowns in a couple weeks.

With that said, I was in NYC for my anniversary on Saturday. I wasn't given a hard time about masking indoors, let alone asked to take my temperature when I went to my favorite ramen shop for lunch. Went to a nearby cathedral afterwards while unmasked and none of the staff there said anything. I don't want to allow myself to be fooled by a false sense of optimism though.

Police arrested an elderly man walking at Brisbane Botanical Gardens for not wearing a face diaper.

The man was outside and had a medical exemption.

I don't see most places actually enforcing this new autistic NYC passport mandate, honestly, at least not for long. Maybe large event centers that have the staff, but so many places in this country are short-staffed from the lockdown layoff horrors, and honestly, most normies don't give a shit. Like, I assume these restaurant and gym owners just want their clientele. They aren't going to wave away customers they know because of some dumb mandate, especially in less touristy areas.

Even if this thinking trickles to other parts of the country, it won't stick. New York seems to be one of the only states actually still actively chimping out about the virus.
