Is japan even socially conservative by western standards? I mean, barring significant cultural differences, like homosexuality being much more accepted there than in historically Christian european nations and stuff like sex toys, pornography, prostitution and such being sold/offered in the open, comparatively to a shunned stance even the most progressive western countries have on such stuff.

Japan, due to its culture, is far more sexually liberated than Europe, IMO.
