Movies you like, that are widely panned.

That's just Final Fantasy VII with dinosaurs.

I went to school with someone who was in love with Samantha Mathis. She doesn't do anything for me, but he was actually pumped for a sequel. (The ending suggests further adventures.)

She was quite hot in that film tbf. There was a webcomic made that was a sequel to the film but the link I found for it is dead unfortunately.

There's a surprisingly dedicated fan community for the Mario movie that's done a lot of research into script revisions (the script that most of the cast signed onto resembled the game a lot more than the final product), cut content, and has gotten interviews with actors and crew. I remember John Leguizamo posted a short video addressing them, expressing surprise the movie even had fans (but was ultimately gracious about it).

A kid at school once told me he had the sequel on VHS at home. Naturally he couldn't let me borrow it for whatever reason.

No updates since 2015, though.

Scary Movie 2

I get as to why people preferred the third a little bit over the second even if they agree that they're nowhere near as good as the first. But honestly, and even thought the first was hilarious and all, I thought the second was a bit funnier than the first, and that's because of the Wayans giving more creative control with writing.

This also explains why I also liked White Chicks, Little Man, Dance Flick and both Haunted Houses, despite whatever critics were saying.

2 is a great flick.

For me its the last two Star Wars prequels, i recognize they are not good movies but I do enjoy watching them occasionally.
I always suspected George is on the spectrum. Someone who worked with him said he doesn't get mad if you challenge him. He just stares blanky and acts like he doesn't hear it. Supremely over-confident in his own abilities.

Death to Smoochy - Both Norton and Williams were great in it.

The Number 23 - Amazingly, Jim Carrey is a lot less wacky than expected.

Blade 2 - The first one is obviously far superior, but it was a good sequel that kept the action fun and enjoyable. The biggest problem was the third movie copying the facehugger mouth onto fucking Dracula of all things.

Matrix Reloaded - Decent sequel despite the shift from Hong Kong action to epic scale. I'd even say that Revolutions was alright if you're not perturbed by all the God-bothering, but neither of them are as good as the first (but how many Western trilogies have a better third entry than the original, Logan notwithstanding?)

Cloud Atlas - Great movie with stellar performances by most of the cast involved. Probably the last good one by the Wachowskis before they trooned out.

Man of Steel - Didn't think it was as bad as it gets hate for. It has its flaws, but it was fine in my book. Considering how many superhero movies have issues which mainstream constantly overlooks, I'm willing to give this one more leeway.

Pacific Rim - Love this film. The acting's not the best, but the fight scenes are excellent and highlight what the new Godzilla movies lack: weight and damage. Very serviceable B-movie.

Unbreakable - One of Shyamaladingdong's best movies. Decent twist and well-constructed film that is better than a fair share of today's movies (although that could apply for a lot of older movies nowadays).

The Reaper Strain, right? I don't mind it. Blade is hired to protect vampires for a change. We get new insights into vampire society: the humans who agree to serve them, presumably for power and safety.

I'll tell you what bothered me, though:
The love interest killing herself via sunlight.

Remember Udo Kier's death in the first film? The sun charred his body and caused it to rupture and melt into blood. He didn't turn into little grey flower petals.

Hugo Weaving makes those movies bearable, at the cost of spoiling his character. The first Matrix implied he is as much a prisoner as the bluepills. Now, his motivations keep changing; "mommy" issues are the icing on the cake.

Can we just take a moment to acknowledge how fun Udo Kier is? He made Red Alert 2 FMVs so much better.

I agree that the dissolving differently was off, but I just saw it as an artistic change to emphasise how beautiful she was to Blade. Still dumb that she's granted mercy of that kind when pretty much every other vampire in the movie dies gruesomely. Come to think of it, didn't the other lady vampire just get dusted immediately when exposed to sunlight?

Also hated Trinity for killing off Whistler again. Such a pointless revival for him to just decide to die off a second time.

I found it entertaining that he continued to get stronger to match Neo, with the added irony that it was through behaving like a virus after calling humans the same thing.

But yeah, it did hurt his character along the way, especially in the third.

3 was lessened by his absence.

Then again, 3 had the same characters, just with more recognizable actors. Jenny McCarthy standing in for Kari Wuhrer is like a symbol for the whole thing. (Recognizable does not equal good.)

This is the only Happy Madison production that gets consistent laughs from me. There's no prominently obnoxious characters in this like most of Sandler's work and Covert is a likable main lead. The side characters and stoning sessions are also great. I don't know what it is, maybe I just have an affinity for that golden era of game development that's portrayed in most of the movie.

I always like BOTB. I wish we had more mega movies with a huge laundry list of stars. Like twenty-plus name brand actors you know. They just don't make them anymore. Last one I can think of might have been Independence Day.

I'm glad to know there's other fans of Death to Smoochy here. The critics hated it, but everyone I showed it to, liked it a lot.

That surprises me that Critics didn't like it.

I think its arguably Robin Williams' best performance. He's a force of nature in that film, lol.

Anyways, here are more some of my pics:

Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019) = Got blasted by critics, but mostly praised by fans, the film revels in being a monster free for all while also portraying the classic monsters in a fantastic way. This might be my favorite version of Ghidorah, which is saying alot. Its a movie for fans so I guess I understand why critics didn't like it, but the hate it got still baffled me a little bit.

Mary Shelley's Frankenstein (1994) = After Bram Stoker's Dracula, I guess it was only natural to try something similar with Frankenstein. Its become kind of forgotten today but I think its a solid and well directed film. The biggest issue, for me, is that I have a hard time viewing Robert DeNiro as the monster, and that's a problem, but there are also plenty of really good moments. The updated take on The Bride/Mate of Frankenstein is also fantastic and a downright shocking moment in the film.

Man of Steel (2013) = I'm not going to argue that the movie is great and there are plenty of missteps in it, but the designation of "one of the worst movies ever" that people gave it seems way overblown. There are legitimately good moments in the film, and its missteps don't venture too far outside of stuff I see in typical cape shit films.
