Women love crime fiction. Older women especially. My aunt used to punch the air with glee when watching SVU.

Your mom probably feels affinity with Kersey due to his age. I suppose the modern equivalent would be Bruce Willis, or perhaps one of those UK crime stories that revolve around a chivlarous old crime-fighter.
Women like murder porn too.

Your aunt likes murder porn.

Yes, why do you ask?
See later down the thread where I explained it's useful for gaging the discussion.

I keep asking other women to see if I can find an exception and no luck yet. It's weird.

Ugh. I never want to picture my aunt getting wet at the sight of Hannibal.

I've never seen a Fast and Furious movie except the Jap one. So I dont know how useful it would be for me to gauge the discussion. I can still be a fan though cant I

It’s simple; true crime is just advanced soap opera, and both are derivative of gossip. All the little personal details and dramas that get wrapped up in a big, dramatic event. That it’s a true story sells it more.

Similarly, unsolved crime shows are generally not as popular with women. They want the closure and security knowing the bad guy got got. Whereas men like the mystery and figuring out the end for themselves.

You both make compelling arguments.

All this Cannon talk is reminding me that everyone should go watch Electric Boogaloo: The Wild, Untold Story of Cannon Films. Pretty entertaining documentary about the rise and downfall of the company.

I love that doc. Its a fantastic look into Cannon's weird ass history.

There's several docu's:

I know there's another one out there that came out around the same time as the Electric Boogaloo one.

I'll have to check this one out too!

I remember back in the 90's there was a secretary where I worked who loved True Crime. Back then they had to read objective books on the matter. Now they get to watch slanted documentaries made by fellow women who need to scratch their "bad boy" itch by trying to spring clearly guilty murderers from prison (*cough* Making a Murderer *cough*).

JudgyBitch has her theories too...
(Insert "avoiding responsibility" joke here.)
