It's most likely a combination of both and that is the best way to look at it in my opinion. He can be both a shitty person and autistic. He finished school and college, clearly he is capable of doing work and ideally he should have been given some job to do like warehouse work or something that limited his exposure to the public since someone with a lack of a verbal filter isn't something you want representing your business. I think being given free pass to just never have to do anything he didn't want to do ultimately made him go from just whiny/lazy to a full on consumer/coomer monster.

Before that, Chris seemed to have at least attempted to keep an impression of "Normalcy" (what he considered to be normal, anyway) and the true destructive nature of his presonality was not as pronounced. I see this a lot, but disagree. Bob has him on a leash. Long one, but he did. Chris was Chris even before Bob passing, just Bob did intervene on occasions and Chris respected him enough to back down for a time. But with Megan you could see how he was, how he made physical advances on her when she told him over and over again she hates it. Megan went distances for him, because for some reason she saw him as good friend, but he saw her only as sexual object. In those letters you can see Chris never cared about what bothered her or how she was doing, it was always about him. Even after he published that picture of fingering her she was thinking of giving him chance and he responded by lecturing her about sex and then going on ED in order to explain everyone that its Megan on the picture only after which Megan ended their communication. TBH I think that was one true friend Chris had in his adult life and he did everything and then something to ruin it. He had chance after chance and he always made it worse, culminating in this. Even Bob wouldn't be able to stop this descent.
