High Guardian Spice - Tumblr: The CalArt Anime

The trailer gives the impression that its for infantile children. Like people too young for harry potter.
I have been freakin out on chat about how jawdroppingly uncreative and soulless this shit is. Its literally like they are actively trying to make this shit the most generic and unimaginative and boring fucking trash they possibly can.

As I noted on chat, this looks like the shitty in-setting anime you would see in a shitty currentyear western cartoon being watched by some retarded nurd character

wow They finally did an actual trailer:

Looks like garbage tbh, just watch Little Witch Academia instead.

If this were made as a solo project, I'd be impressed. Considering it's made by a studio, it's embarrasing. Are they playing it at a low framerate, I assume like the trusty 24 frames but it makes it look like its stuttering more than anything. Also that music sounds like shitty stock music from some 90s sample CD, less tough-girl anime and more carebears.

You should see the hidden replies to the Tweet containing said trailer, it’s absolute gas.

This looks bad. Like if a bunch of no-name DeviantArt artists just finished an entry-level Flash tutorial levels of bad.

Which I think isn't actually that far from truth.
Like I said once, this looks like the adaption of some crappy "manga inspired" webcomic published sporadically by some DeviantArtist on their account, the last entry being in like 2014 with threats promises from the creator to resume soon that were never followed up on.

Or like, when manga and anime started experiencing a boom in the US back in the Aughts, you had all sorts of "original" English-language "manga/anime inspired" projects being produced obviously hoping to cash in on the boom, it has that stink of the worst. most derivative of those.

Yep, this is basically the animated version of what we saw almost 20 years ago and hoped it would die on the vine. Companies like TokyoPop perpetuated that idea anyone can be a manga author through their "Rising Stars of Manga" scheme.

You know when a better show has a show in the show that's just a knockoff of another show? That's what this feels like, like someone should edit this to play on the TV in GTA4 and it'll fit right in

Well I'll be dammed. There it is. In all it's.....generic janky amateur glory.
Remember kids, the money wasted on this could've gotten you more of your favorite animes subbed faster or had some manga/light novel made in Japan made instead. BUT NOPE! You (by you I mean the loud PC retards you didn't try hard enough to exclude) wanted more chicks making shit and by golly you are going to get it! Put that in your ramen and slurp it.

Seems like they're trying to make it as cheesy as possible, probably to make it ""ironically"" bad.
That music, I thought people were finally getting sick of ripping off the 80s.
If they wanted truly good memeable cheese they should've gotten ex-4Kids writers and not fat phony bitches like Kate Leth. And a voice director, every voice in this trailer was as flat as a pancake and valleygirl-esque. You're voicing little girls in a cartoon not doing a coffee lounge podcast. 🚬

>anime
yeah pirate USAnime and not the authentic good shit if you can help it. If you like something you should buy it after you pirate it any way you can. That's what I did with manga like A Bride's Story by Kaoru Mori.

I'm getting some serious 2004 vibes and not in a good way. Legit, the Winx Club comparisons I'm getting from how it looks is embarrassing because despite being animated in Flash until I think season five (I dunno), it was at least stylish and had its own look. The voice-work also reminds me of Winx Club--but not the 4KIDS dub. It reminds me of the dub Nickelodeon used. It's generic and sounds phoned in. Do we have a cast list yet? They're literal nobodies, right? I think I only heard like three unique voices throughout the entire trailer, everyone sounds the same.

And this is supposed to have been inspired by anime? No, this is totally inspired by Western (read: European with some Steven Universe) animesque shows down to the look and feel, but lacks the charm and creativity.

This has to be a children's show, there's no other way to describe this. This was made like it's a children's show, but with womenchildren dykes in mind, and that's why it comes off as so infantile and condescending, on top of being generic. No normal child over the age of ten is going to give this the time of day, and that's being generous. And it's Crunchyroll-exclusive, so again, what child will even see this? Hell, what teenager who didn't drink the Tumblr Kool-Aid is going to see this on a streaming site dedicated to anime? That's the only fucking reason they're even on Crunchyroll to begin with, they don't want wanna-be Western cartoon shit.

This is one of the most out-of-touch cartoons I've ever laid my eyes on, and there's been a lot of shit these last few years with an identity complex.
