Just curious, anybody who knows her state laws or federal laws. Is it legal to change your name to avoid being looked up because of all the past things you did? Or you need a better reason, or even no reason at all to change it?

From a very cursory bystander experience (re: grown man/learned of true paternity filed to change name), you can petition the court and state your reasons for requesting a name change-- and your request can be denied if it's to avoid prosecution, fraud et cet et cet. I can see several scenarios she could undertake that would inevitably help her out but not going to speculate here because I want the little tardslag to get her due.
