Funny thing is I'm not sure Laura is actually an AGP. Sure she transed later in life and dates other MtFs and seems to enjoy being trans rather too much instead of just trying to live in peace as a woman but none of it actually really reads as outright fetishistic to me and I believe her when she says that she trans-identified as a child. Personally I think there are a small minority of transbians who aren't AGPs, or if they are it's such a mild form of autogynephilia it doesn't show up in any meaningful sense. The two I am thinking of both had intense dysphoria since childhood and also just happened to be into women.

I think it’s about puritanism and the tickly prospect of moral condemnation for a lot of people, but for others (me included) it’s more about finding a way to conceptualize transness that makes logical sense to non-trans people. My issue arises when it feels like a sneaky backdoor for predatory sexuality, because not a damn person in this world deserves to be creeped on and shamed because they aren’t attracted to someone.

For me personally, the Blanchard typology just helps me with simple risk assessment, even though it's surely not perfect. Whatever I may think about HSTS, I know the risk of them trying something sexual or violent towards women is very low. When Blaire White walks into a bathroom, I don't really worry. AGPs however, present a risk to me as a lot of them are both attracted to women and seem to feel entitled to sex and to female adoration. Just like with hetero men that doesn't mean all of them are a threat to women or all of them are bad, but like with hetero men I do not always want them around me (unless I know them well) or around young girls. I'm sure there are many nuances about trans sexuality that I don't understand, but this distinction is important, I think. This is something where women and trans women clash, and I'm not sure if we can fix that.
