So based on the small tidbits that I've gleaned from Bob over the years, I can feel safe in saying that his dad failed him by not being a man. I do not get the feeling that Bert ever took charge in his home and I think that's reflected on his boys. Bob is perpetually stuck in arrested development and Chris... wew lad. I went back to make sure that these weren't archived before and I came across posts of mine from the far flung year of 2019 when I thought Chris's name was Chip and that he was the reasonable one. My how things have changed.
I don't want to put words in his mouth, but I think his point is that the primary function of Mass, or any church service, should be worship. It's good to have a sense of fellowship with those who go to your church, and fellowship activities outside of worship help strengthen communal bonds. But if your primary reason to go to services isn't worship, then why are you going? It's like those megachurches that are more about feel-good hokum and mediocre concerts than teaching scripture, no substance at all.
Any church that is stupid enough to go along with this will soon find that Facebook censors its priests if they mention Matthew 19:25 or Romans 1:27 in their homilies.

Fellowship is God's mandate, and the Church is Christ's body. We are supposed to be concerned about our brothers and sisters in church, but if one's primary purpose of attending church is the fellowship, treating it as say a Marvel convention, then one has gone astray.
