Sorta unrelated tangent- I often see these Tumblr types talk about things like "hand flapping" and such in autistic people, but I've neither seen nor met an autist who does that. A friend of mine was telling me she's never seen anyone except ultra low-functioning autists do things like that. As far as I can tell, that kind of thing isn't that common in autists, but Tumblr talks about it as if every single person with autism flaps their hands or some shit when they're excited.

To be fair, this behavior is usually punished in autistic kids, and the more high-functioning ones learn to "sit on their hands" by the time they reach their teenage years. Autistic people will always find other ways to self-stimulate, including but not limited to self-harming behaviors that are actually worse than the spastic hand flapping, like punching their thighs, clawing at their skin, or slamming their head into things. The way tumblr likes to romanticize "flapping" as a concept just proves that they know nothing about autism and stims; they only take the easily replicated behaviors and claim to have autism because they flap their hands around like a dead fish.

I genuinely don’t even know what her diagnosis would be in my non professional opinion. There’s so much going on there and self delusion that I would hate to be the person who has to evaluate her.
