I've been dug into the Choice of Games community for quite some time now. I have noticed this too. White leftists naively think that minorities and immigrants are their natural allies. If they actually knew what they were like, then they would know that these people have their own ideologies that have little in common with their beliefs.
I have yet another personal anecdote. Back in my twenties, when I was a naive left-liberal idiot, I worked at a convenience store. One of my supervisors was this cute young twentysomething black woman. Generally we either got along or kept our distance. We liked talking about politics a lot. Naturally, race was a regular topic with her. Though we got along, she had no problems with race-baiting sometimes. One day, when we were discussing our political beliefs, she said this, "I'm not liberal. I'm just bitter."
That stayed with me. Eventually we would later have a falling out and lose contact. I wasn't too surprised to find out she would later get a B.A. in African-American Studies and became a very rabid lesbian feminist black nationalist. Perhaps our falling out was a blessing in disguise.
