He didnt buy the home because of multippe reasons.

1. Mom does his laundry.

2. Mom cooks and cleans.

3. Hes never lived outside the safety of his parents.

4. The thought of taking responsibility of himself terrifies him.

Even without buying a house Nick could have easily afforded a place to rent..maybe even talk to his Uncle about getting one of his places allowing him to spread his wings at a nominal fee. Having half a million saved means he could have afforded a 1k a month apartment/studio/house with little to no thought. Being a young adult on your own is something i craved as a young teen growing into my own person. We dont live in a eastern culture where parental respect/following and waiting until youre about to marry to move out is a major thing.
