I left this on in the background as I was doing things and I can literally remember almost nothing of note happening except that tit flash that was shown earlier. The streams are blending together in my brain at this point.

There are some people who are just born with chemical imbalances in their brain that no amount of love and good parenting can fix. They have to have medical intervention. I'm a decade older than Chantal and from the US, but I know that when I was growing up that medical intervention for those types of children was kind of looked down upon. I do wonder if it was in Canada as well. If you couldn't control your child, there was something wrong with YOU. Now we know better and putting children with psychiatric issues on medication when needed is not as stigmatized a it was in the past. Chantal revealing that her mother did try to instill some manners in her and she has rebelled at every step shows that her mom did at least try. Some people are just born with brains that are no wired right. Sometimes it is in no way the fault of the parents. Shit happens. Chantal is an adult and she knows she's fucked up. Even now when people try to help her she does the exact opposite, At some point, for their own sanity and well being, family and friends have to walk away. Interventionists and therapists will advise family of addicts and those with mental disorders of this when in group counselling. During the Live she did from her mother's home on her sister's birthday, she and Kim talked about how Kim and her husband were celebrating 31 or 32 years together. Chantal is 37 so her mother got with this guy when Chantal was 5 or 6.

I know it's a small point but IMO there's a big difference between a man coming into a child's life and the household at age 5-6 as opposed to 8-9. Most adults only have a few fleeting memories of events prior to the age of 5, perhaps a birthday party, trip to Disneyland or a traumatic event, maybe a childhood friend or nursery school memory. But most people can look back to first grade and remember a lot from that stage in their life and forward from there. So MOST of Chantal's childhood memories should include this man as her stepfather and part of her household. Instead, many of her stories from her childhood involve only her and Kim, she often adds into the stories that her mom was a single parent at the time and it was just the two of them.

This has intrigued me since her sister's birthday when this info was revealed.
