Wuhan Coronavirus: Megathread - Got too big

3 hours. Just a bit tired but surprisingly well. The arm near the injection site feels a bit painful but it's like a bruise, more than anything.

Barely any headache but it's kinda lurking there, so I took ibuprofen just in case.

Am I lucky or is the ride still due?
I had the Moderna and I had no problems after the first one. The second shot I started feeling like I had the flu the next day. I was achy and tired and had a headache. Next day I was fine. My wife had a similar experience.

I sort of regret it not because I'm worried about its safety or anything but because everyone I know is vaccinated and they won't shut up about Covid. Like, they all think the vaccine is super effective, but they also want to wear masks all the time and they're back to hiding in their houses and rubbing Clorox wipe s on everything. People get mad at me for saying I no longer care about Covid since I got vaccinated or that I don't really care if my kid gets Covid or that I don't give a shit if anyone else gets vaccinated. I checked out months ago, and unless they're stacking bodies of otherwise healthy children on the streets, I see no reason to care. Let the fatsos worry about it.

"Cases" are vastly undercounted. Most people don't even notice they had COVID (because mucosal immunity kills the virus before it can get inside lung tissue). And in their case PCR test would've returned a positive result and counted as a "case".
PS That's also may be the reason why vaccines don't stop the spread. They don't trigger mucosal immune response (plus, IgA antibodies from that response are short-lived), so the virus can replicate in mucous membranes for a while, while being unable to infect lung cells because of vaccine antibodies.
Prior to mass vaccinations it was estimated that at least a third of Americans had Covid-19 antibodies, and so were already immune.

The number may be as high as 50%.

The vaccines were introduced at the tail end of the second pandemic wave, in the northern hemisphere spring. It was obviously settling down into background noise and if we'd left well the fuck alone Covid would have evolved into a nuisance, another annoying cold, by this winter. We'd already achieved herd immunity, there was no need for vaccines.

Instead we decided to introduce leaky vaccines on a population wide scale. The level of retardation defies belief.

Now we're seeing a summer case pandemic when we shouldn't. It suggests that millions of people have had the immunity from being exposed to wild Covid fucked with by the vaccinations. Fortunately the Delta is a mild strain so no big die off this time, and lets all hope that lasts because God knows what will happen if it evolves into something more virulent.

If anyone doubts the truth of this look at Sweden

Sweden had not suffered a single Covid death for months until July when they started to spike up. Sweden is maybe the only country on the planet that actually stuck to the pandemic response plan that was considered best practice prior to 2020, protect the vulnerable as best you can, allow for some restrictions on public gatherings, but otherwise encourage herd immunity, and guess what? It worked. Covid was done with, but of course being full of gullible white people they also got on board the vaccine train and in June vaccination rates started to ramp up and now they're starting to see Covid cases and some death occur again.

What kind of mass vaccination program sees case numbers and deaths go UP from a zero base? Has there ever been an example of this in the history of virology?

Everybody I know who had side effects had them the night after, or the next morning, or after the 2nd dose.
I hope the tests will be free of charge, right? Right?

*sigh*
I wonder who makes the tests... and what their stock exchange code is...
This might be late but wtf is going on in Arkansas? ALL the ICU beds are full? All of 'em? I mean I guess it's possible but it seems a lil' weird.

I did some research on the "no beds in Florida" headline. In a lot of counties, where the number of available beds were at 0%, the number of beds available to start with was also 0. So if there were no dedicated Covid beds to start with... it stands to reason that none were available. I haven't looked up Arkansas, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was the same there. Where did those Covid beds go? Maybe they took them down when things got quiet. I'm not sure.

Got my second shot of Pfizer today. Nothing but a bit more pain in my arm when I lift it so far.
Other than that, the disclaimer I had to sign had a new section in it mentioning rare cases of myocarditis in men aged 17-30 after vaccination, and that there have been actual deaths among the elderly related to it.
Also, the EU is looking into more side effects:
I want to hope that the aftermath will be epic, but there won't be an aftermath.

Once again, what's the point of vaccine passports, besides totalitarian control?

Given the main student response I've seen to the refusal to mandate masks or vaccines at my local uni (as in shocking amounts of relief and satisfaction), this is going to come back and bite the likes of Stanford hard.

There is a lot of belief among the believers that the vaccines are the cure-all, that they are enough and eliminate the need for all those safety measures. Don't actually follow through with that and backtrack totally (besides coincidentally confirming the obvious)? You're going to see depressed enrollment and fewer resident signups. Students want the party life with few restrictions, don't give them that and they'll simply take another year off or go elsewhere. Even the Ivy League won't like the results of such policy.

Uhm how is that surprising? The vaccines don't make you 100% immune. Of course you can still get the coof & even die.
The point of the story was that you should get your shots so that your death will be less painful. Which I'm not even sure is true, but whatever.

It's weird for them to be promoting how good the vaccines are in a story in which a fully vaccinated man dies. But vaccines still "helped" this man, even though he's still very dead.

It's not surprising. It's the doctor's statement that his "suffering would've been worse" when the man fucking died. That's ridiculous. He's dead. How could he possibly have suffered MORE? Are they implying he went peacefully in his sleep simply because he was vaccinated? He died the same way everyone dies from COVID. It's such a retarded statement, especially from a doctor, but I can believe it after the last (almost) 2 years now.

Fucking insane. "Perform good and we'll give you your god given rights back temporarily." Fuck this shit.
Not just that, but it makes no sense. Either the virus is there or it's not. If you are going to have a "20 minute mask break", then you might as well not wear the masks all day. Unless this is a "break" where they will be outside and given those little 6-foot circles. Which just sounds sad.

That is some fucked up shit, right there. Businesses failing, people getting asked to prove vaccine status in the street, people not allowed to hug, the money being made by pharma out of the fear, and all the other bullshit going on and all we actually have to do is collect shoes and socks. Maybe that is what the looters were doing getting all those trainers.....they were securing their rights to freedom through some ghetto elder crystal ball sheeeeit.
It is shit like this and shit like different sports, at the olympics, that had different protocols that were clearly not based on any science and people walking around with chin masks prove that we are not dealing with anything that serious, for the majority. Like 99.9% of humanity.
If this was some serious shit then everybody would know someone who has died and there literally would be bodies piling up in the streets. No fucking way would anybody be getting, or would be dumb enough to take, a 30 minute mask break for collecting socks and shoes.

Eta. some posts came in above which might mean i ranted for nowt. Fuck. I am too tired of this bullshit to even check.

I remember there was an article on Yahoo last month that was supposed to sound really scary: 40 million Americans knew someone that died of COVID-19. Which sounds scary until you realize there are 330 million Americans. 290/330= 87.8%. So only 1 in 8 Americans know someone that died in the deadliest pandemic ever. That includes people that died in their 80s and 90s.

I'm kind of worried about the second shot because everyone universally says that the second shot is worst than the first. Was that your experience as well?
As I recall the second day for Moderna on the second shot I basically just sat there at my desk and failed to do anything. Just no energy at all. But other than that no significant side effects.

The masks are super important and it's imperative that you wear them for your health. Also your prize, your incentive for performing well at an unrelated task: you won't have to wear your masks (which are super important and imperative if you wish to remain healthy.) You get to be a science denying, anti-vaxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxer, likely white supremacist for half an hour.

Govt to announce action against anti-vaxxers by next month, says Muhyiddin

KUALA TERENGGANU (Bernama): The government will announce the action that will be taken against anti-vaccine groups either this month or next month, says Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

He said it was to ensure that the country could achieve herd immunity to curb the spread of Covid-19 transmissions.

"We will study and conduct some research about this (anti-vaccine) group. We need to know the background, whether most of them are so sick that they are afraid to take the vaccine, or they don’t want to take the vaccine because they don’t believe (in it).

"So, when we have analysed... if the percentage is very small, it is not worrying but if it is big, we have to find a way, whether to (make it) mandatory under the existing legal provisions. It will be decided by the government within this month or next month,” he said.

He spoke to reporters after visiting the vaccination centre (PPV) at Taman Tamadun Islam here Thursday (Aug 12).

Muhyiddin however said before any action was taken, the government would first look into the factors that caused someone to refuse to register as a vaccine recipient.

He also did not rule out the possibility of making it compulsory for each individual to take the vaccine jabs.

During the visit, the Prime Minister also urged more people to register for vaccination.

He said that teenagers aged 16 and 17 will be vaccinated earlier, but it can only be done after all eligible adults have been vaccinated.

He also announced that Terengganu would receive 590,000 additional doses of Covid-19 vaccine this month.

The Taman Tamadun Islam PPV, which started operating on Tuesday (Aug 10), could accommodate up to 4,000 vaccine recipients at a time, and it is the third integrated PPV in Terengganu after the Gong Badak Sports Complex and Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA). - Bernama

Sabah allows only fully inoculated customers, staff in supermarkets, eateries (can't wait to see the backpedalling in, like, a few weeks)

KOTA KINABALU – Under Sabah’s newly revised health and safety standard operating procedures, only individuals who are fully vaccinated and have a low-risk Covid-19 status are allowed to enter supermarkets, hypermarkets and food outlets – including workers.

A list of the rules issued by the National Security Council for the state, which is under Phase 2 of the National Recovery Plan, includes the following notable changes:

- Only customers and workers who have completed their vaccination regimen and have a low-risk Covid-19 status, with these details reflected in MySejahtera, can enter supermarkets and hypermarkets;

- Food outlet owners must ensure only customers and workers who have been fully vaccinated and have a low-risk Covid-19 status in MySejahtera are allowed on the premises;

- For the purpose of domestic tourism, hotels and other accommodation operations can host customers who are from the same district, with the condition that both staff and customers are fully vaccinated; and,

- Tourism activities are allowed only in the designated “travel bubble”, with the condition that visitors, tourism operators and hotel/accommodation staff have received both vaccine doses and acquired permission from the state Disaster Management Committee.

The SOPs for other sectors remain the same.

On Sunday, Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin announced relaxed measures beginning August 10 for the fully immunised, among them dine-in for those in states under Phase 2 upwards.

However, the Sabah government allowed dine-in earlier on June 29, when the state was still in Phase 1.

It entered Phase 2 on July 10. – The Vibes, August 12, 2021

S’wak’s record-high Covid-19 cases due to stubborn, carefree attitudes: Sapian Mohamed (good to know that the rural, underdeveloped states aren't as cucked as we are)
MIRI – The stubborn and carefree attitude of Sarawakians are to be blamed, as the state records its highest daily infections yet with 1,216 Covid-19 cases today.

In stating so, Sarawak Health Director Datuk Dr Mohamed Sapian Mohamed said social gatherings, family celebrations, mass congregations for prayers, funerals, meetings, group sports, loitering in crowded places, refusal to wear facemasks and lack of social distancing are among the causes that contributed to the number.

“Today, Sarawak sees a new record of Covid-19 infections.

“Those 1,216 new cases that were recorded today mark the highest daily increase since the pandemic early last year.

“The careless behaviour of the people and their lackadaisical attitude towards the current situation are causing the infections to continue spreading,” he said in a press statement today.

Dr Sapian said Kuching district recorded the most infections with 752 cases, followed by Serian with 236 and Samarahan with 101.

Two new Covid-19 deaths were logged, including a 50-year-old man in Kuching and a 69-year-old woman in Serian, bringing the state’s coronavirus death toll to 477.

Dr Sapian called on the people to avoid public places and remain at home as much as possible.

The state Disaster Management Committee said three new clusters were recorded, comprising a village in Samarahan, a workplace in Betong and a village in Mukah, with a total of 105 people infected so far. – The Vibes, August 12, 2021

so it's been about a week since i got my first shot of sinovac

an hour in, my shoulder felt a little sore and can't move it too much because pain
12 hours in, i felt a fever coming on with my knees feeling really sore, which i literally slept it off

any discomfort in my shoulder was gone after a few days

if it means anything, i've been taking supplements about a month before the jab (vitamin c, d and zinc) and a multivitamin for the past 2 weeks (thanks to those who shared their knowledge on this)

im guessing the side effects will be more apparent after the 2nd shot
