A wise decision, honestly. You get in the game and get treated as a child, in other games sure they treated your team like noobs, but tbf, you were. Super mystery just sits you down at desks, to teach you the basics in pokemon school. You run around with small group of students and fuck around learning the basics for what felt far too long to me, before you can finally set out and make it to an explorers guild. It's been such a long time, it probably wasn't that bad, but I remember when I'd try to replay it I'd always quit before getting to the guild because it was a slog.I haven't played Super Mystery Dungeon
To make matters worse, instead of recruiting like normal there's a connection tree. You have to do missions and they'd unlock a connection you could use in rescues and branch off. There was one of each pokemon and they were the ones from previous games, but there was no wild recruiting or anything which really killed it for me.
