General GunTuber thread

I love the whole "SIG'S ROADMAP FOR THE FUTURE OF FIREPOWER" and them showing a gun with fucking keymod. You guys think that NGSW is gonna result in anything at all, or is it just more SPIW/OICW memes?
I think we'll see some pieces of it pop up, like the polymer casings. But I don't think we'll see the whole package.

Who looks at some worn out nasty piece of meat like that and goes "Yeah, that's fucking hot."?
Coombrain Gen Xers. We're finding out how much of the gun community(or atleast those in control of companies/publications) fall into this group.
everyone i've ever seen actively talk about Recoil or certain YT personalities has been super cringe. the "lifestyle" really undermines the levity of the subject matter but is also super try-hard and often pretty goofy since it's more for looks than for function. some stuff is like that but it feels like it's being weirdly pushed in the last 15 years after the tactical scene started going more mainstream. it's like watching the equivalent of ricers get involved in your hobby/sport/profession.
Instagram """"gun culture""" is fucking cancer. Between ToysAreUs furniture, race gun infatuation, and shitty PCCs they're making me hate ARs.

On the topic of PCCs, Hop dropped the lastest video in the HK/PTR modernization project and he just sounds tired of trying to make them practical. but i still kind want one

"Making an MP5 practical"

You don't need to hang 10 pounds of bullshit off of an MP5 to make it practical and good, they come from the factory that way.

(Unless it's a PTR and you need to use the warranty)

A fucking men. Hop is a faggot. Is the PTR out the box not capable of killing somone? Is that why you need to strap all that shit to it?

MP5 is fine the way it is. it was made to be close range bullet hose, and it does that job quite well. it is soft shooting and idiot proof. the new ones have picatinny rails and that's all you need. you dont need a IR lamp and laser. you dont need a fancy MLOK handguard.
The SAS did not use the irons or scopes at all. they zeroed their weapon lights to point of impact for point shooting. and it worked. heck, they didnt have stocks on their MP5s most of the time.

At fucking most, an MP5 needs a light. They're awesome with suppressors too but I think they make them too front heavy. Mine has a rail for a MRDS which I don't use, and a vert grip because I have a KAC set up. It shoots fucking perfect the way it is, goddamn thing is a laser and probably the most accurate firearm I own.

Im getting tired of the whole "modernize this!" trend. just because its old or different doesn't mean it wont work now. no, it will work just as good as it always did. really any gun designed after 1960 is just as viable as the newest hottest gun.
CZ75 vs glock? Personal preference. they both do the exact same thing as well as the other. they both have replaceable sights, they both have replaceable/ upgrade-able triggers, they both have 17 or more rounds to a mag and they both come in all the sizes you want.

Hop is such a techbro
he doesn't seem to get into the technology of the firearm though. no mention of alternate locking pieces or manipulating sear engagement angle for rate of fire adjustment, or doing a low pro triple tree chop to use the old school low profile micro red dots, et c. it's mostly bolt-on stuff, and not really what i would call "patrol ready".

then again, a lot of gun youtubers don't do any of that because they're generally youtubers and not people that regularly use or have used professionally the firearm in question. so it's more an exercise in theory built on theory-crafting. it's quite rare to find otherwise who isn't "just a trigger puller".

I think that @Cpl. Long Dong Silver phrased it best with
If Hop fell into another hobby he'd have a overtuned ricer or be wearing programmer socks

And you're right, the guy isn't handy or mechanically inclined, if he were he would have actually grabbed the dremel and ground off the bit of the sight post to make the gun into the gun he wanted, he also would have probably been able to do something besides bolt on accessories and not wasted four digits on shit he isn't ever going to use. I also find it really weird that his single biggest requirement for absolutely anything that makes its way into his hands is "muh' NOD compatibility" and not something more practical. His opinions on optics are also really retarded because he gets so far down into the nitty gritty on stuf that really doesn't seem to matter much.

its because he spent 4k on NVG's and now he has to justify that purchase you see it in most people that buy nods.

Fighting with nods is a relatively new phenomenon when you think of it. Well for conventional forces. End of the day its still shoot, move, communicate.

Yet guntube seems to think slapping a PVS 14 over your eye turns you into a terminator.
they would all get ventilated by big lenny and his durr huntin spotlight.
