One of the things that the Taliban learned in the past 2 decades is that aligning with the likes of Al-Qaeda and ISIS and thus bringing upon them the wrath of whoever happened to be the target of the former's terrorism was a huge fucking mistake, so they will likely contain their effort exclusively to keeping control over Afghanistan. Russia and China have both already had meetings and even agreements written up with Taliban leaders, which leads me to believe that the Taliban is gonna try to reorganize as a more "diplomatic" government, for lack of a better term.

I doubt they'll be able to resist the urge to lay out the welcome mat for Islamist terror groups. Jihad is part of their whole reason of existence. This is not some secular government like Vietnam that is willing to wildly bend their principles to be successful.

The reason the Taliban are fighting ISIS now isn't because they disagree with most of their goals, it's an argument about over who should be in charge. Once ISIS stops trying to rule, they'll fit in perfectly.
