I guess that's one way to think about it, although probably not intentional on Hololive's part.

IIRC the original lore was that Amelia was investigating the others, who were supposed to be mythical creatures. But the weird thing is that Kiara is the only one that fits the "myth" theme. Phoenixes are mythical creatures, but the others aren't. The Grim Reaper was always a symbolic representation of death, never part of any mythological system. Cthulhu mythos is from Lovecraft's fiction, not mythology. Similarly, Sherlock Holmes and Watson are characters from Conan-Doyle's fiction. And, obviously, sharks are real creatures, not myths.

So at the end of the day I think they just had some vague idea that they wanted the new EN generation to have a bit bigger and more "epic" feel than before and didn't think about how to it all fit that much.

By contrast, it looks like they're putting way too much effort into creating consistent lore for the next generation, which is not needed for cute animu girls playing minecraft.

In all fairness to her, I'm pretty sure the majority of the "better things" for her was not getting herself and everyone she interacted with harrased by bugs.

It also fits with my personal rrat that the jp girls recent Minecraft Hardcore streams are not only because they're bored/current lack of inspiration, but also to wait for the EN2 and the EN Server connection

Gura is Atlantean - Atlantis is a myth

The myth part of Gura is that she's from Atlantis. The myth part of Amelia is that she's a time traveler. They themselves aren't mythical but have mythical backstories.

Calli is probably supposed to be a shinigami or something but portrayed as a reaper because that's how the west personifies death and it's close to "rapper." Ina, idk. I guess the closest thing she has to a mythical backstory is that she's a priestess for some sort of Cthulu cult so her mythology isn't really...real if that's a good way to say it.

The original lore went to the shit when Amelia retooled herself as Doctor Who, Calli is not THE Grim Reaper she is A grim reaper, the actual grim reaper is Death sensei her teacher, Ina is never outright stated she is part of the cthulhu mythos, people rolled with it because of her cousins created by her dad in FGO and mention Sanity a system that come from Call of Cthulhu and Kiara is well... her , Gura is atlantean and the tidbits of lore she has throw it was a shithole where people from the surface get anally raped by Megalodons in a bad day

So yeah EN was weird when you consider it, i suppose that with EN 2 want a more centric lore to keep it going

Atlantis is a morality story from the philosopher Plato, not mythology (unlike say Troy or Olympus). (Although Plato might have gotten the Atlantis story from otherwise lost myths or from the historical Thera eruption, but nevermind).

Time travel is from fiction such as H. G. Wells, not mythology.

Calli being a Shinigama certainly fits tho, so I stand corrected on that one.

EDIT: I should point out that Troy and Olympus are real places, unlike Atlantis (which is ironic if you think about it). My point above was that Troy and Olympus get referred to regularly as important places in Classical mythology, whereas Atlantis is never mentioned.
