It's really interesting how to a certain extent graduation is kind of the death of that character, all the time spent streaming and colabing with people, some probably now friends. All ends even if you can talk in private, we aren't at a point yet where people openly interact with the people from their past vtuber life.

I wish the best for Hana Flores, and whatever she may do in the future.

My two cents about the Gen2 tease: Wasn't very impressed by the en gen 1 announcement but rather cringing the whole video. But my low expectations were surpassed when they finally startet so despite the edgyness I will wait and see. Given the hitrate of Cover it should turn out be pretty good.

If you're curious, the words from the Prelude video are: "The Gods", "Concepts", "Space", "Nature", "Time", and "Civilization".

Man, the EN generations are having much grander and more abstract themes than before. Very different from "I'm a cute animal/girl" or just "I'm a cute girl". Even HoloMyth is noticeably grander in scope than the other gens, now that I think of it.

From I get and from the comments I saw, the next gen of EN or the "avatars" will be about The Council of (1) Space and (2) Time, (3) Civilization and (4) Nature, and (5) Order/Chaos. Seems like EN is boosting the power levels of the neophytes.

HoloMyth is so laughably plain in comparison. Divine Embodiment of Chaos vs Shork Girl.

There better be some dynamic between Ame and Clockhead.

I'd be cool with that personally, but I'm not sure the themes work. I can see how Kiara or Amelia would be "Time" and Gura could be "Chaos" or maybe "Nature", but who would be "Space" or "Civilization"?

Here's my take on it, but its just a grain of salt:
Calli - Space/Time: being that death will keep on expanding, or that it catches up to someone's life
Kiara - Time/Space: she is in a cycle of life and death, or that she reappears somewhere over time
Ina - Order/Chaos: eldritch summoner/goddess
Gura - Nature: shark from the ocean gets bored and wants to eat on land
Ame - Civilization: human detective who tries to test the limits of everything

It also fits with my personal rrat that the jp girls recent Minecraft Hardcore streams are not only because they're bored/current lack of inspiration, but also to wait for the EN2 and the EN Server connection

It's really cool that HoloEN took the route of having shared lore between genmates and stuff. If there will be ONE person who appreciates continued lore and intrigue over begging for a Gen2 announcement, it'll be me.

But I think if those 5 silhouettes are the next group, some of them look really busy and IRyS-esque. I'm looking forward to see what they actually look like, especially if one IS drawn by Raita because that guy can make some really polarising designs (like Ibuki-douji from FGO).

Recently I was actually thinking of writing something to monitor channels for upcoming live vids, and passing those to streamlink. But the Youtube API doesn't show upcoming streams in ANY endpoint besides "search", which costs 100x the API quota vs a simple "list" request, drastically limiting how often you can check in per day. Looks like this gets around it by simply scraping the pages instead, and in general it does a lot more than I was ever planning to.

I'm just friggin missing everything cursed recently.

Fairly curious about the new gen and lore stuff, I'd love for it to be surprisingly good and really interesting. In the long run though even if the lore is garbage the streamer is what's going to end up mattering more. There isn't a lot of time that I'm convinced they "live" the lore.
"I've taken a lot of souls training under death sensei." type things aren't really building a world beyond my sight of grand adventure sailing the river Styx or ferocious fights for things or wild creatures refusing to submit.
Dying and reviving since time immortal as some sort of human avatar of a fire bird, cute shark girl who felt like home was kinda brutal and got tired of it then got curious about those people things.
I'll admit I don't even know if or how much Ina plays at it outside of just the obvious visuals.
Amelia's the only one I catch common enough references that aren't sort of throw away dialogue to "be" the character. Shitpost Smol Ame stream still having lore bits and quips about alt universes and time travel and so on. (Funny since time travel was essentially just her going "Oh no that's totally a thing" and adding her own lore twist iirc)

Of course maybe there's a buncha things I've missed as well. Personally just see it as kind of a fun background story popped in, but hard to dive into as lore.

"Halu" is an Indonesian slang by the way, its a shortening of "hallucination". It basically mean the same thing, can be used jokingly or not. Its first wide use was during the last election and the word just stuck, even boomers use it as well

Pretty much this: avatar can be updated, corrected, adjusted, changed with a different costume. Not so much with the person behind it - as long as Cover scouts entertaining people, they should be fine (eventually).
