Some claims that UK forces are engaging hostiles near Kabul airport.
So the britcucks parachuted in to hostile land for no reason and are now going to be trapped. Things where going peaceful until they showed up.

So is the new official taliban government going to be A-OK with the USA landing 5k troops now?

At best, that means Monday. 24 hours will go by without the government (as in the elected politicians) doing anything about a regime change that's just happened within hours.

In all fairness, it's modern-day Britain, not exactly the great empire it used to be. It's probably just to squabble over their 'foreign interests' and 'ensuring regional security'.

Probably more to do with the upcoming surge in Afghan migrants making their way into Europe & then the U.K. It may also be a better to let the dust settle and navigate the ‘new normal’, especially if it’s not a place of particular importance.

I doubt the U.K. really has much in the way of influence or interests in Afghanistan, despite their prior involvement.

Looking at the news, seems the taliban want to get the government to surrender peacefully.

Which is actually quite a master stroke.

They don’t risk their own fighters lives, in an assault of the city, they come across as beneficent and honorable, and prevent the possibility of engaging with western troops there to evacuate their staff(thus avoiding drawing in the US again). They look both disciplined and magnanimous, respectful, and restrained.

It makes the US look even worse, if the Taliban ride in triumphant not taking vengeance or blowing up buildings, while the US is hauling ass to get out at the same time. The US looks(and is pathetic) in defeat while the taliban are restrained and respectful in victory.

By Monday I expect a taliban led “transitional government” to be fully in control.

Emirates flight seems to have aborted on the landing.

Air India departing. Emirates abort might be to save the runway for departures.
Supposedly it's due to the [edit: alleged to have happened] firefight between the Brits as they're trying to evacuate their people and the Taliban forces near/at the airport.

That might also factor into why BoJo called in that emergency session of parliament.

Watch what happens on the wikipedia page of Afghanistan. There will be a much greater conflict brewing; an edit-war between wikipedos.
