High Guardian Spice - Tumblr: The CalArt Anime

And there in lies the problem. Crunchroll was, supposedly, going to use it's funds to give money to anime creators and licence more shows, but instead chose to drop Interspecies Reviews and fund this. That's the only reason people are even pretending this is anime.
It's no wonder I don't support these places.

That was actually Funimation, but it doesn't matter, they're basically the same. And it seems that's literally gonna be the case very soon.

It looks bad, the concept is bad, the voice acting is bad, the writing is bad. There's absolutely nothing redeeming about it and there's absolutely no reason to watch it over some throw-away isekai or slice of life magical girl high-school anime that a studio produced for quick cash.
You're right, but I think there's a market for easily digestible media. Like if HGS is bad, but watchable, people would just say "whatever" (but I shouldn't be on crunchy roll). There are conditions to that though, namely the "bad art/bad writing" thing. The concept is done to death, but if its done well enough no one would care. You just have to make sure its done well enough.

There shouldn't be off model characters, bad character designs, dumb writing, and the witch girl who sounds like a grown woman. All HGS has to do is run the line, but it can't even do that judging by the trailer. It was never going to look better, sound better, be better than actual Anime because you'll always fail if you're explicitly trying to make anime. All you had to do was be average, and it looks like you can't even do that HGS.

Part of me wonders if that was why they led with the diversity pitch. Speaking of which, it sounds like they prioritized the tried and true "Diversity Checklist" to hire voices for characters. The "TRANS PEOPLE VOICED BY TRANSPEOPLE" shit. That's a bad idea because, obviously, you need to hire based on skill. What's more damaging? A straight white male voicing a gay man, or a bad gay actor voicing a gay man?

Like I said once, this looks like the adaption of some crappy "manga inspired" webcomic published sporadically by some DeviantArtist on their account, the last entry being in like 2014 with threats promises from the creator to resume soon that were never followed up on.
This makes me want to see an adult comedy cartoon where the weeb chick from My Life Me grows up to be some problem glasses tumblr bitch and makes Not High Guardian Spice.

But criticizing woke culture in any way, shape, or form is absolutely haram to these jokers (just look at what happened to Gina Carano), so of course, it won't happen. But hey, can't stop a man from dreaming.

Original the character, do not steal!

Seriously though, how the fuck did they get away with this character design? It's literally recolored Ichigo from Tokyo Mew Mew with some minor things changed. Fucking Deviantart-tier shit. And I know what they are gonna say: "Oh, you don't get it, it was just ~inspired~ by Ichigo!" yeah, the same way something like this:

was ~just inspired~ by Sonic.

Like, it would be one thing if it was just some nameless background character, but after watching the trailer, it looks like it will be some kind of prominent villain/rival character and that's unacceptable in that case.

Now when I think about it, aren't HGS's main girls all rip offs of Tokyo Mew Mew's girls? You've got the loud, cheerful, pink main girl that's full of hope (Ichigo/Rosemary), shy and unsure of herself nerdy girl with long braid(s) (Retasu/Sage), the small yellow and brown girl that has a big family (Purin/the dwarf one) and the tallest, serious, "cool" girl that "doesn't need any friends" (Zakuro/the elf one). Have they even tried?

literally Madoka but without any talent behind the writing

By their logic, it's okay since the creator is trans. Anime managed to turn this fujoshi into an awkward looking "guy."

I am reminded a lot about my own youth, when I used to watch a shitton of cartoons on TV.
You'd have two great shows but in between there was one lackluster show.

Like, there'd be an episode of Galaxy Rangers, then an episode of Captain Planet and thereafter Sabre Rider.

Of course, no one with half a brain could give a shit about Captain Planet, everyone was in it for Galaxy Rangers and Sabre Rider, but what would you do in between these two timeslots? Do your homework, hmph. Nah. You'd continue to watch on the same station, suffer through Captain Planet, hoping it would be one of the few decent episodes (like the one with Hitler buying an atom bomb) and get it over with.

HGS might be kinda like Captain Planet, where it would be okay to sit in between two different, much more watchable shows and you might be just suffering through HGS instead of zapping to the TeleShop channel or whatever out of mere convenience and laziness.

But here's the deal: This shit doesn't run on a TV station, it's on a streaming site. So instead of being forced to watch it cause literally nothing else is on, you just choose to not watch it as a whole and bingewatch whatever the fuck you want.

I vaguely remember the Tokyo Mew Mew author showing off an earlier concept that turned into TMM where the Ichigo character's color scheme was black (as in instead of pink, not the race). So they didn't even come up with their own shitty recolor.

Anime should have never came to the west. I bet $100 that Raye would get bent over by some dude to live out his yaoi fantasy, and everyone in the trans community would say "NO YOU SEE THIS IS STILL COMPLETELY TRANS BECAUSE....".
Now I had to think of that one Sailor Moon pilot/test footage with the paraplegic character.

Oh and this!

Never gave much of a shit about this topic, but now that we’ve got a trailer, it honestly looks pretty mediocre for all the hate it instantly recieved.
Sure, I get why everyone instantly hated it, but now that it’s actually here, I’m honestly more disappointed that it’s not as disappointing.
Looks like something you’d see on a little kid’s channel.
