Let's pretend for one moment that he does die before the election, just for the funsies. What happens then? Will the nomination revert to option number 2, aka Bernie Sanders? Or will his running mate automatically replace him just the way Vice-President is supposted to step in after the Big Man in the White House chokes on a piece of matzo? Does he even have a running mate yet?

It will again come down to how much people hate the R running against him and how that stacks up for the D candidate. Remember a lot of lefties who disliked Biden voted for him because they disliked Orange Man more. Additionally, many moderates/centrists voted for Biden because of mean tweets.

The voter depression is real, though. Just massive chunks of the Dem vote switching from "Likely to vote" to "Unlikely to vote". As it stands -now-, short of even bigger fuckery than last time, the race is already lost. The next candidate could get Bush levels of enthusiasm and still win.

Officer Tatum and Candice basically said something like everything happening in Afghanistan is on purpose because Biden is still in cahoots with China, who will now benefit from the Taliban control.

I actually don't believe that, simply because I think it actually makes too much sense. I think it's a case of always looking for a "real meaning" in a tragedy when the simple truth is that this fucking administration is so goddamn incompetent that they completely fucked it up and the light at the end of the tunnel is now a freight train coming their way.

Haven't got too much polling on the reaction to his speech, but our initial results (Which are done online, and thus tend to oversample democrats) rate it as "Very Poor". We'll see if that holds when we do the University polling which, combined with the online polls, tend to give us fairly accurate views on Democrat opinions.

I'm not one to dismiss all "conspiracy theories" and 2020/2021 has certainly made me entertain more of them, but in my view, a lot of people believe them and insist upon them because they cannot accept the fact leaders - or anything in general - can be that incompetent, that much of a colossal fuckup. It's a weird denial of reality, an allergy to Occam's razor, if you will. They can't accept that sometimes genuine accidents happen even within leadership.

China does stand to gain the most out of this failure and this time, I'm not referring to panicking Taiwan. It's so that they can sign exclusive mining rights with the Taliban for rare earth minerals to make even cheaper smartphones and Ipads.

It's because we as a species take refuge in leadership. Even bad leadership is instinctually preferred to none at all. So the most likely cause is rejected out of hand.

It's been incredibly amusing to watch Biden and his admin absolutely eat shit every single time they've attempted to flex their executive muscles and get part of their agenda done. These are the fruits of attempting to warp reality with media narratives and wishful thinking. You can deny that the wall is there over and over as you are speeding towards it but the second you hit it no amount of spin or blame shifting will save you from the result. Reality is a mean bitch like that.

Yeah, but this is the ultimate demoarlizer for a Democrat and moderates and cemtrists that voted for Biden probably realize now that mean tweets are fine, so long as the person posting them is competent to do their kob and have massive buyer's remorse.

We'll never know because Biden broke the agreement. He broke the fucking agreement and gave the Taliban the propaganda they needed to rally, demoralize everyone and make the warlords keeping them in check backdown. This is all on Biden.
