Let's pretend for one moment that he does die before the election, just for the funsies. What happens then? Will the nomination revert to option number 2, aka Bernie Sanders? Or will his running mate automatically replace him just the way Vice-President is supposted to step in after the Big Man in the White House chokes on a piece of matzo? Does he even have a running mate yet?

yeah afaik the deal Team Trump made basically was "we clear all our shit out by May 1, we take people who helped us and others that you don't want around back to the USA with us, and maybe we 'accidentally' leave some toys behind that you can show your new Chinese acquaintances when you get tired of playing nice with them, and in return you guys calm your shit in the meantime so we can ship all the crap out"
there wasn't going to be a _lack_ of a drawdown (in theory), just one that would have been less catastrophic

Imagine being so dedicated to some (debatable) gimmick based on fighting the scourge of a poorly defined 1997 version of the right that got stuck in your tard helmet that you're willing to throw away any sort of reputation or respect that you've built with said (debatable) gimmick down the drain instead of just dropping the front for one second and taking the L.

Honestly, I'm still in the camp that says this won't really matter come 2024. I don't care what tone CNN and the NYT are taking now, when it comes to taking down either DeSantis or Trump the cabal is going to reform and gaslight/censor/bury stuff even harder than they did in 2019 and 2020 to keep the regime in power.

Maybe if there's a major terrorist attack on US soil that can be directly traced back to the Taliban or Afghanistan sanity will prevail, but if the fire burns without touching us directly, low info and young voters aren't going to give a shit and he's going to get away with it scot free. If he does lose it's going to be domestic economy policy that sinks the ship, not this.

rough timeline per my understanding
late 2020: Team Trump makes deal with the Taliban to clear out by May 1st
early 2021: Team Biden says "yeah nah, like, we want to do some 9/11 thing so, like we'll be around until September. That's cool, right"
Team Taliban responds "No. That's not cool. We begin moving on May 2nd per the agreement we made."
the Happenings thread started in June
it seems that even if you were behind that curve and merely part of the USA's intel community it was clear by middle of July shit was totally fucked and they needed to get the fuck out of dodge by, ooh, start of May or so

yeah it was basically "Team Trump bargained them down to allowing the USA to save face while leaving".
May 1 would give plenty of time for shiny things to distract people by September to do a solemn 20 year salute at Ground Zero or something and nobody would still care enough to ask why it wasn't happening in The New Heart Of Liberty And Values, Afghanistan
it was by no means a victory, but it was a much less-bad loss

It was the best we were going to get. They didn't want us there, they didn't want Western values, and they sure as shit were as tired of the twenty year shitfest as we (the american people, not the whores in DC) were.
